CF, when I saw the trailer to this game many months ago, I just scoffed at it and thought there is no way I would want this game, but after watching your first episode, I bought it and I love it, so I thank you for that, even though you didn't completely like the game in the end. I did learn from you however to RTFM (F = flipping) which helped alot. This game has many challenges but that is what makes it fun. When a game is easy it gets boring. Quickly. This game gives you a LOT more to do than just deliver loads. It gives you informative and sometimes challenging quests to do in order to progress. But you still have to take normal delivery jobs (and trade goods) between the quests in order to make money and restock your supplies. The new regions you unlock are much more dangerous than the ones you have seen (or at least shown to us). This amps up the challenge more - which is a great way for the game to not get stale. Also, I don't think there is anything wrong with a game where you might fail until you get good at it. I seem to be going against popular opinion here but Star Trucker gets a completely positive review from me. Thanks again for showing it.

Glad that you like I currently want to like it. Quick question are the upgrade for the truck actually useful or do they just let make more mistake? That seems to be to me and is anything to build towards it just seems like main loop just being above water then anything else?
@Dan_McCann2 ай бұрын
@@kenpachiramasama1139 The only upgrade I put money into is structure - hull reinforcement (I don't remember exactly what the game calls it). There are many levels of the upgrade and I am up to 125%. I assume it takes more impacts (or more serious impacts) before hull breaches occur, but I am still hitting a lot of astroids so hull breaches still occur for me and I still have to keep spending $3000 to get my truck fully repaired. That and fees for accidently breaking the law are the biggest setbacks for me - I can deal with buying the batteries - I buy them at the places that have them discounted. But, I keep getting the money back by taking long distance jobs. I think my answer to you is - don't go into debt buying the upgrades but when you get ahead a little in money, you are all repaired and you have extra replacements in stock, it is time to buy the hull reinforcements.

Store extra batteries and UCCs (circuits) in the chests or inside hard containers that you sold. You sold the two you had with items inside them, likely such as a spare UCC and battery. UCCs most of all need to be placed inside hard containers because they are ultra fragile and can break easily. Even a foot drop from being held is enough to damage a UCC. Pick up and place directly from the airlock and into the containers.

This has a very "Hardspace: Shipbreaker" feel about it. You are just setup to fail from the start, how heavily you want to Fail is 'your story'. "Right, Bob. We have the infinity of the universe to setup this Gasworks. Where should we place it?" ' Directly in front of the Stargate?' " I Love it!, Do it! " Im hearing a lot of love and hate about this game. Its a fantastic concept, but the Economy 'Really' needs to be addressed. As does the application of knowledge at the start. Having the Truck totally offline at the start (cold and dark), and learning where to plug things in before you detach for your first Cargo run would be a big help. To be honest, I was half expecting the Fun Police to deploy invisible walls, or the 'debris' to coral you into the ' Highways '.

I've watched a bunch of people play this game and I've not seen anyone make it harder for themself, lol. Most have made it hard tho. First, nobody reads the manual. Time pauses and you can learn about everthing. Second, EVERYONE tries to back trailers in. Like you said yourself, YOU'RE IN SPACE! Pull straight in, detach, fly STRAIGHT UP and away! The biggest mistake is people not doing jobs. You get caught up wanting to help the people on the radio but they don't give you any money, just upgrades that lead to the harder areas. Concentrate on doing 4 or 5 jobs and get 10 grand in the first hour and buy 6 batteries and 2 more filters. Speaking of filters and batteries, you sold your storage boxes you were comparing of not having, THAT CONTAINED SPARES. That's why you got 8 grand when you sold the box. Last thing is you mentored you shouldn't lose oxygen when docked. Well you don't. When docked you don't lose any POWER to any systems except your core systems AND THATS ONLY if you leave all 3 thrusters turned on. The station doesn't PROVIDE OXYGEN but it powers your generator, BUT REGARDLESS, it was your filters being clogged that killed you. Even if the station provided oxygen, your filters were blocking it from entering the cab. I hope this isn't taken as me criticizing, i just see so many people that have rushed into this game and easily get sidetracked into thinking its unbalanced, when really it's just poorly presented at the beginning. You're led to believe you should do the "story" and that immediately sets you up for failure. BTW you trying to get docking cam while the docking cam IS BLOCKED BY YOUR TRAILER BECAUSE IT'S ATTACHED TO THE CENTER OF THE BACK OF YOUR TRUCK.....is the funniest thing I've seen in this game!

Those crates sure are handy... those ones you sold LMAO. They dont hold just 1 item, they hold several different items that will fit. They will hold 6 batteries. Also if you put a crate on the shelf and open it up on the shelf the lid will kinda wedge itself on the shelf so when the gravity goes out they will stay in place. Yes bungies would make sense but without crap flying around your cab, nobody would keep their grav running lol. Per SDOT title 3, subchapter 2, part 216, section I... Lack of activity with drivers in Star Truckers make for lazy transportation, hence there will be no bungies, slings, nor tethers allowed in space, trucks, or buildings. Your idea about how to start the game is really good. Start everybody out with a mint rig so people know when they are forced to buy their own truck later, they know what they are working towards and what they need to upgrade. I love that idea.

Between buying replacement batteries, air filters, and UCCs, and three seperate complete hull repairs because things came out of nowhere, I found myself about 12000 dollars in the red. At this point, the bank threatens to repossess your truck within 3 days. So now I am spamming jobs trying to pay off this horrendous debt, but of course driving the truck through space drains batteries, deteriorates filters and UCCs, costs fuel, and invariably bumps me into the occasional rock. I've spent over an in-game day working hard, and got the debt down to... about 8k. Additionally, I relented and opted to do one (1) story mission. This wasted so much time, asked me to EVA in 2 different spots, and took place in a hazard area which completely depleted a fourth (fifth?) resource. I will ignore the lovely voice actors until I have loads of money. So that'll take a few real world weeks. I am not complaining. I will probably be forced to restart, which is arguably terrible, but doubly so, I imagine, if you're trying to make videos out of it. I am enjoying the impending sense of doom, the horrendous cost of trucking... well, not all games get to be escapes from the real world, apparently. It also reminds me a little of the early prohibitive costs in Derail Valley, where all the good jobs require locomotives or licenses that are constantly out of your price range due to repair fees. Still, the curve is gentler in DV. I may very well start a second game with more lenient custom options. I enjoyed these two videos a lot, and I hope you return to it sooner rather than later, and suffer the pure injustices some more, now knowing that indeed we agree (do we?) that it is a cruel world out there. I'm with the Colonel on this one. I want to like it, I really do. But at the moment it's *not* a space trucking simulator. It's a consumable management game. It honestly feels like a damn mobile game where the consumables are put in to limit your ability to play if you don't spend real world money on micro transactions. I need to be able to focus on things essential to trucking: Finding jobs and keeping fuel in the tank. If the truck breaks down I pay the repair shop to deal with it. There are too many consumables to manage and they deplete way too quickly at default settings. The new player experience is also badly in need of improvement. While it's nice that things like the job board pop up automatically on docking, there is *nothing* in the game that tells you how to access it if you close the UI and want to get it back again. You somehow have to figure out on your own that it's on the airlock door that is likely hidden from view because you didn't bother to push the button to close it after repairing your ship.

Have you thought of playing elite dangerous?

I've played loads. I quit after purchasing a Python and realising all I'd been doing was chasing the next ship. Fantastic environment and mechanics, zero game.

@@colonelfailureI suspect that the Colonel is old enough to have played Elite on the BBC micro.

There are some seriously questionable design choices with this game that I think sounded great but will get tedious very fast. Like having drive/fly to two different spots meters apart to access the shop and job board. Why can't you just dock once and access both?

Him fuming over trucking in space is not the same as piloting an Imperial Cutter loaded with the most valuable minerals you mined and having pirates trying to interdict you every five seconds. That is stressful. That would be Elite Dangerous.

Your complaining about the batteries .. wait till you have to buy air filters.. oh man are they expensive., The gravity going off all the time and things floating around is great. If you don't have a battery for that just leave the gravity hatch up to contain everything down stairs . When you drop or throw stuff you damage the goods thrown or dropped. I agree the learning curve is pretty steep. Learn by dying many times LOL . Look for salvage stuff floating around.. FREEE stuff to pick up. Free fixes of your truck as many times as you like at the repair place before your warranty runs out.

how would a back up camera be possible? WHEN YOU HAVE A CONTAINER RIGHT IN THE FACE OF THE CAMERA! just like real life hauling a trailer. a back up camera is useless! use the mirrors! :D like a pro!

I'd stick the remote Go-Pro on the rear of the trailer.
