VLS spec doesn't hit more often on higher defence, it uses 25% of the defence roll that's usually used.

VLS allows 4 specs, or 1 spec + a gmaul spec, into another spec. Its also a much more viable "whack" weapon switch after you're out of spec, and you're getting a spec chance back quicker. AGS+Gmaul is always the king of combo max damage. But its far less consistent.

Vesta's longsword has a special attack, Feint, that consumes 25% of the player's special attack energy and deals between 20% and 120% of the user's max hit, with the accuracy of this attack rolled against 25% of the opponent's defence. This is the special attack from the wiki. To me that sounds like opponents def being higher doesnt make it hit more. That just sounds counter intuitive.

Lot of ppl and myself use to use it less as a KO weapon and more something to drain hp because of it's accuracy or as a first/after spec weapon as far as the OG vls. It was pretty OP back in the day, lot of people hated it then also.

I feel its the same way ostmumen fang and the ancient godsword is used. Accurate hits meant to just drain supplies with guaranteed damage. We know claws and ags can hit you 80, but on tribrid fights its a lot of outlasting

You misunderstood the 2 variants. The corrupt vls was basically a slightly weaker vls (4 less str) that only req 25 attack to equip but only lasted 15 minutes, a weapon obviously intended for pure accounts, the corrupt armors were the same deal. The non corrupt lasted an hour but had a special attack and required 78 attack to equip. The corrupt swh and vls we're used as ko weapons as they had insane stats but only req 25 attack to equip

On RS3 this weapon was massive for pvm and was used until less than a year ago. People still use it but it's not your bis switch for melee anymore. Just shows how relevant it stayed for years. It was used, and can still be used, for some records.

just bring back bounty hunter 1, there were at most 100bots at a time... bh2was a disaster, 1/10targets was a pker... now having an account build with lower than 60cb has no meaning at all(except in f2p) if you want to pk you need a max pure/zerk/main or youll always be at a disadvantage, cquse everyone else is maxed, noone makes new pking builds, becuz theres literally noone to fight, bh2 brought in new people to pvp, becuz it takes les than 20hours to make a strong pvp build ane have fun, but now you have to max str/magic/range just to try to learn pvp... lms has always had bots but it didnt get removed? jagex is determined to kill pvp, i think bh removal proves it... there were atleast ~80 people below 60cmbt on at all times, now if youre lucky there might be 1 or 2, so atleast for me, jagex completly killed the resson i play this gans

8:00 This had already been happening for years long before the wildy remake. Dihn's Bulwark is the first thing I remember failing poles that they just added in anyways. That was in 2017. Which I didn't mind at the time because I wanted the big two hand shield for the luls, was sad when it failed but then surprised to see it added anyways. I voted for it to pass and it failed, I remember being sad when I saw it didn't pass. But then I seen them do it more and more, I expected them to just change the Abyssal Dagger even though it polled and failed 3 times as they've done it multiple times with tonnes of stuff. I'm sure there are plenty of other instances even before that, it's just the first I noticed.

Jagex has done this (as in, making changes without a poll) on multiple occasions. Recently with the "diversity and inclusion update" which notably killed an innocuous joke in the Recruitment Drive quest, and made it so that you could just "be the prince/princess's friend" instead of marrying them in the Throne of Miscellania quest. Both of which I thought were really stupid changes.

When 60% favoured votes are considered "failing miserably" to me that really shines how bad the polling system was in OSRS. I think it was a cool idea to "let the players decide on all content" but with the amount of spite voting that occurred getting a 75% favoured vote was pretty much impossible if the poll was in favour of PvP in any way.

I bought the full Vesta set back in the day just because it looked cool. I used it a little in clan wars but mostly just used it as cosmetic. It was really overpowered... better defense than barrows on statius, and better str bonus than bandos while still having comparable defense to barrows on vesta...

You guys didn't play when og bh world's where around? Vls always was a dps replacement for a whips. SWH and maismic where the good items. Swh hits much higher than vls amd lowers defence so you can dominate the rest of the fight, maismic was straight up higher lol spell than ice barrage so make it good

What I don't understand with the polling argument. 74% is majority, as in people want it. 26% did not, ergo. 74% were positive to the changes. I would understand if it failed with 40% votes, but calling a 74.9% poll a failed poll? So much for listening to players 🤔 This reminds me of the Stackable clues poll, majority wanted it, people who hunt for rangers voted no (Especially eclectic imp botters) . Not sure why, but way back in jagex career. They deemed "80%" is the majority. Its to avoid rs3 mistakes where 51% won, but made the game crumble in anger. So any less then 80% isnt enough for unbiased winning. Tho with 70% they would rework, or just wait till later to see if opinions change.

Wasn't the original bounty hinter before the wildy one? It was deep in windy and you would enter a bounty hunter pit where you would have a skull colour based on your carried wealth. Once you killed someone you were on a timer and couldn't leave. You'd still be given a target but it got crazy. People would sit inside grouped. You'd go looking for your target and find a war instead.

Yep! It was sort of functionally similar to what was described in the video though. Jagex took BH offline and back online again 3-4 times so it's hard to remember. I was also like 13 years old - but I do remember that volcano getting repurposed for BH before it was setup closer to Edgeville

@Colonello I was there and playing back when VLS was 'new' in rs2. I got to use it plenty then and it was a staple in my setup for a long time. What people seem to not realize, is the VLS was the next evolution in top tier at the time, much like how WoW or SWTOR and even Destiny 2 all bump up the level limits and item creep. Thing is, since OSRS came out we have had the game go in a different direction without the VLS, with things like torva/inquisitors/justi/dhins and so on that never existed before. I think trying to force the VLS into the game now just doesnt fit with how things are today. Weapon added to a different game, for a different meta. Since it already exists, the only real solution is to absolutely gut the thing by making its spec 55% energy use. The most overwhelming thing about it was the 4 super hard hitting attacks back to back or 2 into a gmaul/claws sort of thing. Taking that away lets it exist as a niche item while still probably upsetting pretty much everyone. Nobody wins!

Trust me, I'm very grateful. Old School's devs are awesome. That being said, Old School's home page says that "the community controls the development so the game is truly what you want it to be!" Forcing an item into the game that failed the polls multiple times is the exact opposite of a community controlled game.

Well this was one of the showings Jagex literally goes against the polling system and they started doing that for a while after and still do :P we need a poll to say they cant just add whatever the fuck they want :P unless its the most integrity change needed possible :P

if VLS was usable in the wild outside of bounty worlds, it would absolutely be broken. Your take that it's not broken just because it failed polls is completely wrong. Any deep wild pker will bring a VLS to bounty worlds if they can actually get someone to fight there. 25% special attack energy is insanely broken despite it being a lower max hit than ags. You can even VLS-maul and still have another VLS spec. Not to mention if it were allowed in PVM, it would be utterly broken To add, you saying that a dds is better against "low def" targets is wrong, unless you mean literal 1 defense pures.

the pull system in o7 is so dumb and flawed, theres so many communities hating eachother and whenever they would get a nice update the other "faction" will just vote against it out o sheer hate for eachother, not bcuz its ACTUALLY a bad update lol, i am sooo happy that in RS3 we just give community feedback and jagex implements whats best for the game in their minds and not some stupid pvmer can vote against pk updates or some stupid pker can vote against the new boss cuz he hates pvmers and isnt rly intrested in bossing....

Bounty hunter should've just given untradeable items, like cosmetics and not offer items with value. Some people like bounty hunter for the change of pace from PvP worlds, and don't need to earn shit loads of gp from stupid loot boxes. People complaining were pvm nerds that thought they deserve to have a safe experience in the wildy.

It's one thing if most of the votes don't want it, then obviously the suggestion shouldn't happen, but like if more people voted for something to be added for the game I don't really get why the people who voted against it win by default...
