In my opinion orientalism is a form of colonial discourse, as it creates the image of native people according to the discourse produced by colonizers and in your case settler colonizers. For your research, you might also want to look up settler colonialism. I have not done a video on it, but I will try to record one soon. Good luck with your project.

Thank you. I am not sure about Gramsci’s influence on Saeed’s larger work. He does use Gramsci to explain the need for creating a “catalogue of history”. Yes, certainly. You can argue that the legacies or influence of colonial discourse is still operative.
