George III was, by all metrics, a very good and moderate king, at least before he tragically lost his mind. The problem is every British law was established in his name, and at the time he had veto power over every piece of legislation. So when the tide of revolution came, when direct rule came and the government tried to more formally shackle the old American colonies into the empire we were sent to establish, he became the scapegoat.

Those first years of his reign were not easy

Thank you, for this story! One whom is my favorite, on Our Nation. Is Samuel Adams Jr. A true Patriot and one whom was part of the Boston Tea Party. His Dad, Samuel Adams Sr. was a loyalist. Some of the things I read about, was the true hate for King James the 3rd. It's really an interesting time piece and period.

Why would you need to explain it ? Give one man power over another and that other man will hate the first man. Simple as that.

Well, because it is part of the historical context of the American Revolution.
