I remember downloading the soundtrack to the hard drive of one of my older PCs as a "jukebox" and listening to it while I ironed dress shirts in the basement on Sunday afternoons. It was great listening! And the sound quality playing through your Roland is superior to what I had with the Sound Blaster sound card on my old PC back in the day. Thanks for uploading this!

As a Spanish major in college and grad school, I always preferred playing Colonization as the Spaniards -- but I always renamed my explorer "Isabel Trastamara" (for Isabel I of Castilla). Of course, getting extra gold when conquering Indian villages (including those wealthy Aztec & Inca cities) was a plus, too! At least I also was pretty good about sending missionaries to those Indian villages first, and didn't attack if they stayed friendly.

Anyone else beat the game on the hardest level by capturing every rival colony to stop them from declaring independence before your own colony?

Sure, the game is very easy if you know all tricks.

Yes, but only with exploiting Save and Loads. I've had fourteen colonies as England (15-20 colonists each around the whole map, everyone experts). The colonies had every needed building at top tier. Stopped Spain (and others) before they destroy any Native settlements (and didn't do it by myself) and declared independence before 1750. Had every founding father and gave other nations no chance to settle down again, while none of their former colonies survived. Surely someone can do better, but that was my best run.

As it's not present in the ingame 'jukebox' (pick a tune' I couldn't record it on the SC-55. Now if you have a save file just before the discovering of the fountain, I'd be glad to record the tune on SC-55 and on MT-32.

I want a german faction for Colonization. 🖤❤💛But the ending is not a war of independance, but the founding of a new German-American Empire. For the Kaiser. 🤣 Anyway, different theoretical endings for the different factions would have been a nice idea. Loved this game, so many years ago.

i have the 1995 microprose CD for it ... the games quality is 10x better and the music is much clearer. only problem is in 2020... the only to play it is using a computer that still has windows xp or before lol ... anything else and it wont run

Ever heard of DOSBOX? Its an emulator that runs DOS and you can "mount" your CD and hard drives in it to access the files there and still play this game :)

I just listened to the Amiga Col OST - enjoyed it. Amazing how even an OG Amiga from 1985 could hold its own against a tricked out AWE32 / GUS toting 486 / Pentium ten years later.
