He makes it look so easy... Have been watching videos of other skaters prior to this and what can I say? Yuzuru Hanyu is definitely not comparable to others in figure skating. I don't mean to offend anyone, but his grace, his talent, his smooth movement and attitude is far beyond everything we've seen so far.

I agree, you can go back 165 years of Figure Skating History and Yuzuru is by far the most elegant , charming and the best technically and presentation-wise. and his costumes? he makes everyone look blah beside him - a true Prince:). LGC wasn't that long ago, you know. And he only picked Ballade over it cos it didn't stick in time for the Oly season. Otonal is something he wanted to do from a young age, so I don't think it's so much a conscious choice to skate to piano music for his competition programs than it is circumstances.

@ 6:55 Hanyu received a gift from the boy, but @ 7:22 the gift was put on the ice by Hanyu when he's trying to get out of the rink, and he forgot to pick it up. He's busy talking with his coaches, and @ 7:50 the door/gate of the skating rink was closed when they headed for Kiss and Cry. For the remaining part of the vid, I did not see the gift picked up by others or delivered to Hanyu in K and C. I wonder what happened to the boy's special gift. I hope it was eventually given to Hanyu, instead of becoming part of the donation to local children who were reportedly supposed to receive the Poohs that Hanyu's fans threw to the rink.

The boy's name is Alexander Plushenko - Evgeny's son. They - three of them - were on ice shows in Japan together. Don't worry - Yuzu and Plush are friends, I don't think there can be any misunderstanding.

@@Jumblebelle I guess a sort of a bug with the rerendering, since I had to cut the video into sections to apply different levels of color correction. Also may have to do with the original video being in variable framerate and not playing well with the editing software. So probably when I have the time, I'd sit down and redo the correction instead of trying to fix it. But god knows I already owe a bunch of translations X'D Hence not promising anything

That was not Plushenko's son actually, but a different child. Regarding the gift, it was his general policy not to personally take gifts from the ice. I assume it's fair to everyone that way and so it doesn't encourage even pushier behavior from fans :) He does receive them in the end (flower girls and boys would collect them), toys are donated and I'm assuming letters and cards are kept.
