this was a very interesting video. There is one thing that I found a bit confusing. You said lighter colors should go on first. Does that mean you burn the lighter colors as your first layer?
@MellowpineLasers11 ай бұрын
We would be removing the colors in the order opposite to what we painted. If you have a darker coat under a lighter color coat, there is a possibility of the dark color emerging at places where you need light shades of the light color. In the iron man tile had I applied red below yellow, the yellow areas might've had a red appearance. When applying paint, apply the lighter color first, when engraving remove the darker color (top layer) first.

I follow Mellowpine Videos very closely and learn many things from you, Thank you for being generous. Recently I started watching this channel over several times and followed your advise to go about doing color engraving ceramic Tile. I use my mobile phone to convert coloured drawings to Black & White. Although it work I notice the software you are using in this video does a much better job. I use LightBurn which I think cannot do like what you did. Can you recommend the software you are using for colour settings etc, Thank you.
@MellowpineLasers11 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm glad you found my videos helpful. 😊 The software I used for preparing the images in this video is Adobe Photoshop. But you can get similar results using any image editing software, and even LightBurn. Just make sure that you choose an image with good contrast, and then adjust the image until you can clearly differentiate between different colors, even in the grayscale mode (in terms of different shades of gray).

Hello friend, first of all, thank you for sharing your knowledge. Recently, I bought the xTOOL D1 Pro 10W and I would like to make some LED Lights with Transparent Acrylic (4mm) and, I want to know if I can use these "Permanent Marking" to engrave on the Acrylic. Have you had any experience with Acrylic? And, if it is with this Marking, I would like to know what is the best color I should use, if black, gray, etc. Thank you
@MellowpineLasers Жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for your appreciation. I have a video on engraving acrylic, both clear and color, do check that out in my channel.
@chrispope1241 Жыл бұрын
Most straightforward video on this I have seen and am loving my early results with the gray-scale single layer images. I am however struggling to get clearly defined colours on a multi layer project like your iron man because the different colours never come out anywhere near as bright, even using a test grid. Did your example use acrylic or standard spray paint for the colours and also the black top layer (Matt or gloss finish). Also, how long did you leave it between spraying the individual layers and the final black coat?
@MellowpineLasers Жыл бұрын
It's a difficult thing to do, I had to do a lot of trial and error and fine tuning. But it's doable. I used standard spray paint. The top layer was glossy, matte can be a bit difficult to remove. As for drying between coats, it should not leave fingerprints when you press lightly with your finger. If you put on the next coat before the first coat is dry, the solvent in the next paint can dissolve the paint already on the tile and cause them to mix. Good luck with the project, keep trying. You can do it.
@Pigskin12344 ай бұрын
So Im working on trying this. I put a second coat of paint on, the first layer was definitely dry, and its cracking a peeling off, why?

Hello. Would this work on aluminum sheets? (I found some vintage-looking mancave signs 11x17 cheap.)
@MellowpineLasers Жыл бұрын
Hi, Yes, this should work on aluminum sheets as it contains layers of paint overlapped on each other, and the laser removes these layers without coming in contact with the base material. However, you will need to perform test runs to identify the optimal settings for different layers.

is it the same process for doing canvas as painted tiles? are the settings similar
@MellowpineLasers Жыл бұрын
The settings can change based on the paint and paint thickness, you will have to run tests each time. The process is essentially the same. Use enough power to burn the paint off but make sure you don't burn the canvas. Better give it a white or black base coat.
