I just discovered your channel. My first comment is you should start your video introduction addressing you are mother and daughter. It took me a few videos in to discover that. It wasn't until then that I realized the dynamics between you two. I was confused why an older woman was paired with a younger adult. Anyway, I love your channel! I'm catching up on your previous videos. I had my colors done about 25 years ago. I am a winter and now with the knowledge of your channel, I'm figuring out if I am a deep, cool, or clear winter. Keep up the good work!

The stepwise approach your channel takes is do instructive and useful. I really feel fortunate to be able to learn tidbits each week so I can absorb the information, process it and start to apply what I’m learning as I elevate my wardrobe, makeup, hair, etc.

Shades matter for sure. I had a blue shirt that looked really good on me so I assumed I looked good in any blue; then I would wonder why that blue shirt looked so good but this one not so great.

I have questions: 1) When we get to the 16 pallet will there be something which would be equivalent to a bright summer? 2) I think that I have figured out that I am Light, Cool, and both Soft/Clear, but not that I look best in the colors in the overlap but that I look/feel best in the colours at the edges of both light and clear. When you showed the Winter wheel of blues I immediately felt happy because most of those are my best blues, but at no time in my life could anyone confuse me as a Winter. So, the question is: What am I to make of this?

I was watching a different channel that was doing something similar, but they considered blue that goes towards red to be warmer and blue that goes towards yellow to be cooler and that just confused me. At least in the lens of colour Seasons, yellow is the defining colour of warmth so why would adding yellow to blue make it cooler? They way you've done the blues makes a lot more sense to me.

Idk for sure, but in terms of value (dark/light) Red is deeper than Yellow, so perhaps it is seen as the stronger, warmer color. I would not personally mix a purple by using a warm red since anytime you combine a warm & cool color you get a "muddy" result. I would use a cool red & a cool blue to get a nice purple that didn't read brown. Red & blue are closer in value than yellow is to blue so the admixture ratios would be different. A smidge of blue can really change yellow. Again making yellow the "weaker" color. Or they could have simply misspoke :)

When I first got the OG CMB book by Carole Jackson (back in the late 70s/early 80s?) it had only the 4 seasons. I knew from experience that browns, blue-greens, greens & peachy-pinks worked for me but couldn't decide between Spring or Autumn from the printed swatches or photo examples since I was not a tow head blonde with blue or green eyes nor was I a redhead or deep brunette. Anyway at some point in the early 80s me & my mom & grandma went to get color analyzed at a one time Adult Ed class with about 15 or so people. I was typed Autumn. But it never felt quite right since the book said absolutely no black, no navy, no purple & no pink. My mom had always told me coral pinks were a great color on me, I loved purple & I often got compliments when wearing navy. Some of the Autumn shades made me feel dull. Fast forward to the late 90s & I decided to go to an actual professional color consultant (it wasn't CMB, it was Beauty For All Seasons) where I was typed "True Chestnut Spring." LOL. The 40 colors were more personalized to me with swatches for my eye, hair & skin color included. Oddly enough, my swatches included shades from both CMB's warm spring & warm autumn palettes from the later books with expanded palettes. I was surprised by how many warm pinks were included plus deeper shades like aubergine & russet with only 1 true red. ( I always had trouble with red) The greens & blues leaned more Spring but did include a pretty deep shade of teal as well as navy. My metallics included both silver & bronze-gold. Not a lot of olive/earthy greens, orange, rust, terracotta or even peach which surprised me since I relied on those shades a lot in my wardrobe. Also no mustard, my 2 yellows were very soft like butter or very true. I always had trouble with yellows too & didn't wear it much. I don't adhere to my swatches religiously or try to match them perfectly. They are a tool for comparison & sometimes you have to compromise with Raisin or Loden when you cannot find Aubergine or warm Olive as a neutral. Soft white when ivory or creme isn't available, etc. But I do find that the shades selected for me really do harmonize with my overall coloring & are most flattering to me. If you can & are interested in a professional color analysis, it is a fun & enlightening experience. I enjoyed it & still use my swatches for reference.

I’m a little confused - in other videos you’ve talked about Spring being the clear, original color; but here you’re starting with Winter?
@Myrrkat
@Myrrkat 20 күн бұрын
I think its the colours they decided to go with. Saturated true blue and pink are considered winter colours. If they had done yellow and orange they would have been Spring. With the red, they specifically started with a clear winter red.

I think an easy way to understand it is to start with Winter at the top as the strongest color (depth & intensity) but as you go clockwise from Winter the colors get softer or more muted. I think it's also easier to understand warm soft as having brown added vs cool soft having grey added.

That's another thing I don't understand. Why does each season change everything? Why can't everything stay the same? I love the color red but NEVER wear it because of my red face. I would love to.

You look like a muted season to me, while being tan. Somewhere between true summer-true autumn is most probable.

@@notblondeswede aw thank you for responding! most of the apps put me in some type of autumn. and the other day someone recommended i look into soft summer. and i can definitely see why i’d be somewhere between those 2 seasons. i think i’m more soft/muted as well, one of the only things i have down lol. light vs. deep, no idea. i can’t figure out my contrast level.. in some of my pictures my eyes/hair pop and in others i’m definitely a lower/med contrast. i have medium ashy brown hair & my eyes have so many different colors;. i have a warmer medium burst 💥 in the center of my eyes that goes into a honey brown to a grayish green brown w/ a dark ring around the outer.. i’m so lost lol
