Thanks y'all for the support. Kinda of a technical one today. Let me know what you think of this format. As always more info in the description

I hope you can do more underwater color grading techniques.

Amazing video. It just gives me confidence not to force skin tones to be on that line.

Thanks Nathan. Probably not gonna use it frequently, if at all, but a bit of theory never hurts, right?

Yeah it's definitely a very specific use case, but hopefully the general idea of not treating the "skin line" as law can be helpful. Thanks for the feedback

How can you make a shot change gradually over time? For example, say you want to make a shot where the skin first looks normal but as the camera pans out and you notice it's an underwater shot and you want to slowly make the skin look bluer along with the pan, so that it's not obvious at first that it's an underwater shot.

Great question. keyframes. The palette on the far right controls key frames (may need to switch out scopes) then just enable keyframes for each corrector (same as the assigned node number) then you just keyframe like normal. Hope that helps

if we are converting day to blue night. where should we take the skin tone. i noticed bring skin tone in these situation bring weird colour on face. there are very less resources on this. please make grading tutorial which focuses mainly on skin tones not lining in the skin line.

Yeah this isn't covered often. Here's a video that goes over this in a little more detail: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXmTdaFolt-oh7s

Hi, I heard that if I connect a second Monitor will increase the work for the GPU. Is this true? And in your opinion is there a particular type of 2nd monitor which should I choose for having the right colors? (In my old samsung monitor which I use via VGA colors are totally different from my Macbook display..)
@NathanCarterVids4 жыл бұрын
Great question. I actually just picked up my first professional color accurate monitor a few weeks ago, (eizo CG2420 no bells and whistles but a budget friendly ish option for sure) however I think getting a calibration tool can be a huge help and I put out a tutorial a a couple weeks ago on grading with budget displays, so there's some techniques in there that can help. Hope that helps. Also running a second display should increase your GPU workload as far as I understand.

@@NathanCarterVids thank you for the answer! Too expensive for me :) And what monitor did you use so far?
@NathanCarterVids4 жыл бұрын
Honestly I was using a cheap Asus and Samsung. I wouldn't recommend them, I was heavily scopes reliant for quite a while haha

Absolutely correct - flesh tones are relative to what's around it. If you don't show that relativity - creates another problem - good example Nathan - I have explained it in the past showing a person standing in front of a big green neon sign. Because skin is reflective - the green has to be there. Good points in your video - keep up the good work.

Thank you. That's a great example too. I think people like to have rules to follow especially when starting out, but the reality is, it can be fairly subjective and there's so many variables at play. Keeping in mind that concept of relativity I think is a great start for sure.

Guilty as charged, I've been aligning skin tones to that line for many more shots than I should have!
