so many color wheel/color theory videos dont cover RGB, CYMK, and the process of actually creating color palattes with intention. the saturation test is something ive never seen before. this is incredible, thank you so much!

Thankyou for this! As a designer I always find it quite difficult to decide what color the font should be and what color the background should be. Color makes a design so visually appealing and a beginner always gets stuck with choosing the right color for the elements. In spite of so less views on some of your videos, you guys always stay professional and bring such high quality content for us for absolutely free. Breaking down such complex concepts in so easier and understandable manner. Kudos for your work guys! Don't stop making these.

As of today, May 13th, 2024, out of more than 6 videos on COLOR THEORY I've watched, yours is the BEST and UNIQUE. It's because of the following reasons. 1. IT covers ALL the color terms I need for photography and design. The definitions are easy to understand and accurate. 2. It''s COMPREHENSIVE because it also shows how to create color palettes. 3. It contains ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES such as the polygon backgrounds, the logo in the Color Psychology section, etc. The downside is the word "color scheme" is used without definition. NO WONDER it has been viewed 159 THOUSAND TIMES. Thank you very much.

I feel like colour theory is important for many different people. For painters, sketchers, interior designers, photogrophers, editors, models, fashion designers, etc. This is a vital part of those jobs and a lack of this knowledge is what separates an amateur from a professional. Its a very crucial subject to know.

I'm not sure how you are using the black rectangle. Are you using it to judge both value and saturation? The value comparisons I can see when placed against the black rectangle, but I'm not sure I understand how you judge the saturation. Finally, in judging the values (and for that matter the saturations) are you aiming for an even gradation between values and between saturations, or are you looking for similar values/saturations, or are you just looking for what pleases you eye and what you know from experience will work. Thank you, this tutorial is very informative and presented so that it can be easily applied.

Fun fact: when you look at sun you see warm colors. If you would somehow manage to increase the heat of the sun and make it warmer, it would change color. It would start red, then yellow, white and finally blue. The fun fact is that the colder a color is, the warmer feel it has. And if you warm up the color, it will start to feel cold. So when speaking about color temperature you should be aware that it can be either the "feeling" (as used in videos like these and graphics in general) or an actual temperature (usually measured in Kelvins). You have probably noticed that when buying a LED light bulb. The vendors state there the temperature in degrees of Kelvin. Did you notice that 2700 K is warm light but 4000 K is cold light? I never understood why this "warmth" feeling works this opposite way. Does it have anything to do with red being close to infra-red? I wondered why blow torch starts with red/orange flame but when heated up it turns into cold blue. Either way, warm vs cold feeling does depend on the amount of red and yellow (the more the warmer) and blue (the more the colder). Adding these tints helps to make a color warmer/colder. One of the very few operations which is easier in RGB.
@envatotutsАй бұрын
Hi! That’s a fascinating breakdown of color theory and its relationship with perception and physics. You've covered a lot of ground, from emotional warmth to Kelvin temperatures and even RGB editing-well done! It's intriguing how colors play such different roles depending on context. Cheers!

I'm new to this, so can someone explain to me why do we need to use a black background, what are we comparing exactly?
@envatotutsАй бұрын
Hi! A black background is often used in design to create contrast, making colors stand out more vividly. When you place colors on a black background, they tend to pop, and it's easier to see how the colors work together in terms of brightness, contrast, and saturation. It helps to compare the colors without any distractions or interference from other elements in the design. This also shows how the colors behave in darker environments, which can be useful for certain types of designs like web graphics or branding. Hope this clears things up! Cheers!

Interesting you start off with the Painting color wheel (RYB) versus the digital color wheel since all your examples are digital (RGB), and you don't address the change of color space when introducing RGB. It begs the question why start with RYB at all since you state RGB is used for any digital content? Might confuse some beginners.
