Really want to do this Route. Considering Doing Meeker via the Iron Gates. Looks like the most doable route for me. The loft is something I also want to do, just not without a partner.

There is a somewhat decent trail that goes up the middle through that loose stuff. I was pleasantly surprised. Very fun route.

On the sections of 4th class I'm assuming, I'd want to be roped up. Wife, three kids and a mortgage! That looks so fun.

Which trail did you hike up to reach summit? How long did it take you to reach the summit? What elevation level did you start at? I’m asking, because I plan to hike up this Mountain in June. Please reply. Thank you!

Hi Brandon! We took the Loft route. This is definitely not one you want to try without having prior Class 3/4 experience. It's a very long, committing route. Here's a link to the route we took if you're interested in reading more about it. Longs is unforgiving! www.14ers.com/route.php?route=long2&peak=Longs+Peak

Haha yep. Sometimes it's hard to form proper sentences and remember what you're trying to say at altitude.

@@HikinginColorado It's not the highest peak in the Front Range, but it is definitely the coolest.

Hey so I am getting in to doing 14ers in Colorado for the first time. Just summited quandary peak. I want to get in to physical shape to do some of these. Besides cardio which is obvious. What tips would you give beginner to get in to better shape to start climbing and the beginning stages. Or is it possible you could put up a video of what you do?
@HikinginColorado5 жыл бұрын
There's a lot of different things you can do, but in my opinion, I think hiking is the best thing you can do to get in shape for hiking. Get out and start wherever your current fitness level is and work your way up to longer and more strenuous hikes.

I'm an experienced hiker with a lot of drive and almost no quit but I have very little experience with the rock climbing side of things as I'm from Nebraska and do most of my hiking in Missouri in large hills and bluffs. what is a mountain u recommend for decent rock climbing but nothing that's going to get me killed

In my opinion you should make it very clear you are not doing the standard Loft route. You were way to the right I imagine intentionally but when you put out public videos like this you should be thinking about how you might mislead people

look i am impressed that ya'll did it, but i hung out with guys that did electric and other peaks in yellowstone park. i did a few my self. you don't have to be an athlete to climb it. in fact you dont even have to be in shape to do it. you just cant be a lard. these guys could not bench press 150lbs if they had too. could not even do 2 chin ups for most of them. i did like 20 chin ups and bench pressed 315lbs. i mean these guys would go out and climb peaks and come back and get drunk and talk shit at the pub. i was not impressed at all. put them on a football field and they would get crushed. i mean these skinny guys from college had balls andsome girls even did it. i'll admitt though even though i bike a hundred miles a week, and do metric centries on the bike and a fittness buff. i would make it no futher than the trough if that. maybe the keyhole is as far as i would get. i do other peaks that do not require boulderingwho knows maybe i would make it. but nobody really cares. i mean 2 people a year die up ther trying. is it really worth it just to say you did it. maybe to some but not me. kuddos to ya'll for doing it good luck..
