Welcome back to another Hiking in Colorado 14er adventure! Wetterhorn Peak is a beautiful 14er in the San Juan Mountains! Wetterhorn has a great Class 3 scramble towards the summit! On July 20th, a friend and I drove outside of Lake City Colorado to hike a 14er in the San Juan Mountains! The southeast ridge of Wetterhorn Peak offers a great class 3 scramble! Although it's quite a long drive from Denver, I always enjoy the time I get to spend in the San Juans.

The Southeast Ridge of Wetterhorn is a Class 3 route that starts from the Matterhorn Creek Trailhead. Round trip is approximately 7 miles with 3,300' of elevation gain. This was the second 14er I have done since I tore my ACL last year. It feels great to get back out there and continue my journey to finish all of the 14ers! #37/58. Thanks for watching! I would think that should be able to make it. It does get pretty rough with some big rocks. We did it in a Jeep Wrangler without issue.

Just did this peak yesterday. 2nd mountain and first class three. I was worried about the down climb but I found it to be much easier than going up.
