Colorado 4x4 Rescue and Recovery - Miller Rock 2fer!!

Thursday May 6th and Saturday May 8th Colorado 4x4 Rescue and Recovery went up Miller Rock Trail in Raymond, Colorado to retrieve 2 vehicles that got hung up climbing a snow covered narrow trail.
This was just past the river crossing and rated obstacle on trail 252.
Thursday's mission was supposed to be an extract only to get the vehicle owner out, but upon getting on scene we realized it would be a fast recovery, so we opted to recover vehicle #1 and lighten the load for Saturday the 8th.
All in all both vehicles came out extremely easy (compared to the last 2fer on miller rock a couple years ago).

Boy - a beast of a trail. Interesting for me to compare the tools and techniques used by Utah and Oregon recovery teams Vs yours. Different environments obviously require different approaches. Thanks for sharing a good video show. Yep, I'm just another Arm Chair General with big needs for worth while diversion.

if you're referencing winching vs kinetic ropes... we have kinetics too, they work awesome in the snow here. and mud but we don't have much mud. winching is still the go to method to pull yourself back onto the trail here.

I don't think it made the video - pretty sure i edited out for time, but the cable lock worked great and stopped me pulling the winch line out at exactly the half way point on the drum!

i got rubicon with 3 lockers,i got muddies,,new,,i got 40 psi.. what went wrong,,i just paid 70k for this 4x4..i dont understand..

That's a good way to break in a new jeep. Run it up onto a off camber snow trail slide off and have it recovered. 🤣

The trail was actually completely snowed over a week ago it's been so warm here it's melting that fast. It still was not going to be able to drive out on its own so it had to be winched over and backed out.

Have you considered rim slings? They would making side pulling vehicles with minimal recovery points easier.

those are popular in the tow truck world where mire is near 0. but offroad when you're pulling really hard on wheels... we've seen them explode.

This trail is open but yeah doesn't go anywhere. It's gated on other side. There's a whole network of trails though.
