September 13th, 2020 a volunteer team from Colorado 4x4 Rescue and Recovery went up to Rollinsville, CO to recover a blue XJ that had rolled down off the side of a very tight road after attempting to let another vehicle pass a couple weeks earlier.
The vehicle was a little over 100 feet down a 20-25 degree hill requiring multiple sets of rigging winch line to right the vehicle, and then pull it up the hill.
Once the vehicle was at the top it started up and was able to be driven to the trail head under its own power, for a tow truck to haul down into town.

Nice work. I am impressed that the XJ ran after sitting on its side like that for a while. It is so sad to see a 2 door XJ retire.

Great time to remind everyone...UP HILL HAS RIGHT OF WAY...if you are going downhill and come across a rigs coming at you up the hill, it is you that should pull over....UP HILL HAS RIGHT OF WAY!!!!!!!!!!!

@@kdigiacomo Sometimes it's appropriate. The Right Of Way rule is the same in hiking. I was coming up out of the Grand Canyon a coupla years ago, wearing a Pack for overnight camping. People were standing right in the path, totally vacuous and very inconsiderate. Yelling was appropriate ... they were blocking the path of a 60 year old hiker coming uphill.

Awww, man, a 2-door XJ to boot! I sure don't see a lot of those where I am.

In Oregon I see 2 doors here a lot. Plus we don't have major rust issues either. My '94 4d has zero rust at all. People are always asking me to sell it to them, answer is always nope!

At the start it was hard to see just how steep that hill was. Looking how the people were standing/walking gave a clue. Also, I would have jumped more when that chain came off!

that little bit of chain had some decent recoil on it too. this is why you should always be well clear of the snap zones of equipment!

What is the story to why it rolled. Always interested as a learning point

great video, i am interested in why the choice was made to use the cluster hooks rather than the front bumper recovery points. very well coordinated recovery.

i believe because the bumper was not secure on the vehicle. it was being bent in the 1st pulls.

If you rush people get hurt. Also better to have to many winches than not enough. More control and it is easier on winches and batteries. One of the last videos of Justin King's they burnt up a winch.

Things often look easy to do, and are a lot more complicated and difficult to do than they look. They have made numerous recoveries. I think they know what they are doing!

You comment is cringe worthy. Hope you don’t ever need help recovering your rig. It probably wouldn’t be up to your standards… get the hell out of here with your inflated ego.
