Honestly, not enough credit is given to the Avs netminding tandem of Kuemper and Francouz. Sure, neither of them turned heads with their overall postseason stats but Kuemper played all but two of his postseason games with just one good eye and Francouz went undefeated in all six of his appearances + swept the hottest team in the postseason in Edmonton to reach the finals. As deep as this Avs team was, they got some BIG time performances from #35 and #39 in key moments.

I have been an Avs fan almost religiously since I could watch the TV. I was born after the 2001 cup run so I spent every year in pain watching this team suffer. I watched as many games as I could during the shit show of the 13 season and I still cheered for them when they were at their lowest. Fast forward to 2019, I was in High School and just got my license, bought my first Avalanche tickets with my own money and drove an hour south to Denver for a game. I wore my oversized Avs jersey to school every single game day that I got recognized by classmates as the kid who wore the jersey. I was a choir kid and went to State 3 times, won awards for singing and lettered in Choir, A lot of kids from other schools knew me as the kid who could sing, but everyone at my school just knew me as the overly excited Avs fan. When I became a manager at my job, I made sure that the TVs always had the game on if the avs were playing while I was at work. The pandemic hit and hockey stopped for awhile but my life went on like everyone else. I graduated during the peak of Covid and moved on the bigger better things. My life took me across the country to Chicago for a year. I never stopped watching the Avs though. I joined the Navy and while I was in Basic Training, I had my Dad send me letters of every game I was missing while I was locked away from the world. During my time in Chicago, I watched every game. My roommates hated me on game nights. Many people in rooms close to mine complained about my screaming at night. I didn't care, I was apart of the Avs Faithful! I watched the Avs lose again in the second round and I was pissed. the 2022 season had started and I watched every single game in the beginning of the season. I moved to California for 3 months and quickly became known as the Hockey guy on that base to. I canceled plans with friends some nights because I forgot the Avs were playing and I had to watch. Then came March of 2022. I flew out to Japan and arrived at my first Ship for the U.S. Navy. I spent the next 6 weeks in Japan only able to watch game highlights. It fucking sucked. Then the time came and we got underway for my first deployment. My family would constantly send me emails about Avs games I couldn't watch. Every time we pulled into port, I downloaded all the game recaps to watch when we got back underway again. Then the Stanley Cup Final came. Our ship was sailing home from Kuwait when game 6 was going on. I opened Google and watched the game via the google scoreboard. It was 8am when the game started. I made my entire watch team refresh the page every 30 seconds. Then the game said "Final" and I lost my shit. I spent my entire life watching this team and they win the Cup when I'm on the other side of the world. As sad as I am that I couldn't watch this year playoffs, I am incredibly proud of this team, organization, and all the fans. GoAvsGo!

Denver post interviewed me on what it meant to see the Avs win the Stanley Cup as a fan. Well when I was a 2 year old kid almost 3 in March of 2008. I just moved here and I remember watching Hockey and falling in love with the Avs. Being an Avs fan is a way of life in Colorado. I remember watching the Avs get knocked out by San Jose in 2010. Don’t remember the feelings I had. Watched the Avs fall off badly the following season and darft Gabe #2 overall. Lot of mediocrity in the next season but the Avs grew as a team. Lockout shortened season in 2013 and I went to my first Avs game as a 7 year old kid with my Dad before Pepsi Center was completely remodeled. We beat the president trophy Blackhawks that went on to win the cup 6-2 that night. We finished dead last but something happened that summer when we drafted Nathan Mackinnion #1 overall The 2013-14 season was a season I remember so clearly its insane, I watched the Avs go on a tear and start 6-0 lose to the Red Wings. Go onto winning 52-22-8 winning the Division. That playoff is really where I wanna start at. I watched the Avs completely fall apart to the Wild in 7, I still hate the Wild to this very day, the Avs should’ve won that Series. Game 5 of that series was probably the best thing I would witness for the next 4 years. It hurt like hell in that game 7 to Nino Niedderiter crushing Avs fans hearts From 2014-15 all the way to the end of 2016-17 the Avs were mediocre at best. Yet we somehow drafted Mikko 10th overall in 2015 and we had a shot to make a run in 2015-16 when I went to the Avs winter classic game in February of 2016 Losing that game Was heartbreaking and boy did it hurt. Because the very next season started out with Patrick Roy walking out on the Avs as a coach. In comes Bednar unprepared and Varly has injury problems, Avs finish dead last in the league but this one I remember so clearly that it almost hurts to even remember. And we fell to 4th overall in the draft. Turns out that was a blessing in disguise. 4th overall pick in 2017 is Cale Makar. 2017-18 something happened that year and it’s likely the reason I’m sitting here talking about this, it’s probably the best moment in sports. The Avs start out relatively okay compared to past seasons. Then we trade Duchene in a 3 team deal and Sakic literally robbed the Sens. Duchene was a toxic player in the locker room and the Avs go on this absolute tear winning 10 in a row. Ending in Montreal but we had something going. And flash forward to the final game of the regular season. Game 82 after finishing deadlast the Avs were one win away from making the playoffs. And man do I remember this Blues-Avs game 82 winner to the playoffs. Avs have a 3-1 lead when the Blues pull their goalie with their season on the line and less than 3 minutes remaining when Landeskog plants the empty netter and sends every Avs fan into a frenzy. That’s when I knew we were going to the playoffs. I knew we weren’t going to make it out of the first round but if we don’t get swept by Nashville I’m ok with that. We take Nashville to 6 and it was a bittersweet ending. In 2019 the Avs clinch in Game 81 and again the 2nd wildcard but this time we weren’t here for a pat on the back. Avs win the series 4-1 with Cale Makar making headlines. In the 2nd round is where it hurt. I felt like if we somehow find a way to win this series we may win the cup. We took San Jose in a back and forth hard fought series but ending in the offside goal of Colin Wilson. Was Landeskog offside while on a line change. absolutely but the rule is a dumb rule and should be changed. Landeskog is comepletely out of the play and is getting off the Ice . It still hurts even though we won the cup finally. Because if we won that series we win the cup. After all the drama of 2020. It’s Hockey time in August and the Avs are down 3-1 to the Stars with Injuries all over the roster and we fought back in that series to force a game 7. September 2, 2020. A day that I hate reminding myself of. I’m doing online school at the time. And I was so nervous throughout that day. I get off of my school work around noon and I know game time is 4 hours away now. I sit there at my house just getting ready for the biggest Avs game thus far in my 15 years of cheering on the Avs. Ik if we win this game we’re heading to the finals. Fast forward 4 hours and here we are Hockey time win and we’re going to the finals lose and it’s going to be painful. When Namestikov put the Avs up 4-3 with 3:40 to go I was going crazy because I couldn’t believe that I witnessed that. Then 10 seconds later Kiviranta 2nd of the night ties it at 4. No goals in regulation and OT game 7, this is what heartbreak feels like as a Avs fan. 12:34 left in OT pass to Kiviranta and Joel Kiviranta sends the Stars to the Conference finals. I’ve never cried or been more hurt as a Avs fan. I wanted to puke, I saw Mackinnion through the tears and u could tell he took it personal as much as I did. He wants to WIN. That’s why I love Mack as a fan. To see his reaction was all the more heartbreaking. That’s what made last year all the more heartbreaking. I truly thought last year was our year. Oh how wrong I was U know last year truly was a choke job by the Avs. Do we beat Veags if Kadri isn’t suspended, maybe, I’d like to think so but my brain tells me the Avs needed to learn what choking is in sports. Up 2-0 on Vegas and we lose 4 straight it just doesn’t feel right. We could’ve won game 3. We should’ve won game 5 and it all fell apart. Going into this year I knew that this year is OUR Year. We had adversity early on and Keumper was mightily inconsistent then the Avs win 20 in a row on Home Ice. The Avs go on this tear and beat the Blues in 6 to end the 2nd round “curse” they sweep Edmonton and the Finals here we come. Stanley cup 4 wins away. We are ready for this moment. And when that cup was finally won in 6. I felt as though all the pain and heartbreak had left and finally the Stanley Cup is in burgundy & Blue. To see the Avs win it is a feeling that you can’t get from drugs in a super market

I have every game saved, I've watched them all twice, I still watched this in spite of the rather bleh music playing lol Great editing job on the video though, I just couldn't vibe with the music is all.

Blues gave em a huge fight. Would’ve gone 7 in my opinion with Binnington

Watching the blues avs seires was amazing for about 1.5 games as a blues fan. Always the what ifs abou the binnington injury that shouldn’t have happened but many Avs players have worked hard enough and deserve to win

It sucks that we didn’t get a first round rematch of the Knights and the Avalanche instead of the lowly Preds.
@xlr0gd2052 жыл бұрын
YES! Knowing the Knights they would've driven it to 7. They are playoff-built, their regular seasons mean nothing. Well, unless they are 17th seed

Lol. The Avs “road” to the cup was a straight line into the crease to take out Binnington.
@SgtPrice10002 жыл бұрын
And that road was taken by Calle Rosen being a bad defenseman, not Nazem Kadri. Cry about it, Blues fan.
