Colorado/Canyon Under Seat Storage Install

If you have been looking for useful, locking storage for your Colorado or Canyon, you have come to the right place. Our locking storage system replaces the plastic storage box located under the rear seat, providing secure storage for your valuables or firearms.
This unit is crafted from 12gage cold rolled steel that is tig welded for strength. It is finished in a durable black powder coat that resists scratches. For security, we use a steel hinge with a stainless steel pin that is pressed in at 2 tons of pressure, making it impossible to drive out.
We use two heavy duty cam locks with beefed up cams to increase security.
There are two doors that match the 60/40 rear seat. Each door is equipped with a gas spring that holds each door open.
Measurements:
*Storage Opening is 39 1/4" Long x 8 3/4" Deep.
*The Interior of the unit is 43 3/4" Long x 13 1/2" Deep

Yeah I believe it’s 8” bigger than the factory plastic storage after we removed the side pockets and lengthened the box.

Great video on how to remove - which now allows my dog a place to sit, finally. I still can't believe that both Chevy and Ford designed a backseat area in their trucks so screwed up you can't put a dog or dogs, or stack stuff.

Are the seat bottoms self supporting when down and the storage bin removed? Or does the seat just flop down to the floor?Trying to find info.

The seats might stay up on their own until someone sat on them. But they do need something under them that will to support any weight on them. This is why he had to remove the brace or platform before installing the box. I hope this helps you.

it's 12 gauge steel... if you read the description it's pretty heavy duty compared to the competition.

I agree $600 is a lot of money but it depends on how much value you have for items that can be safely stored in this box. If someone were to consider the price and time having to contact credit card companies + possibly money in your wallet + maybe a radar detector + someone’s hand gun - examples is all + use some imagination is the point I am trying to make. Are you able to build one yourself if so than apparently this box is to much for you. But for people that value their time - like I do and my money I don’t think it’s unreasonable. Sure I can or could make one but by the time I did - remember what I said about my time being worth something - by the time I built only one of these it wouldn’t be worth it to me to make one. Plus the quality this company used in making their box and the quality of materials is also worth something that many home type builders couldn’t duplicate in my opinion. It would be nice if the price was lower but I don’t think many people actually consider by the time they purchase the same materials + having the proper tools to actually build a nice professional looking constructed box how much it would cost them. But than again I have the money + tools and the skill needed to make one but not the time needed so I would purchase one. Thank You

@@MYTOYMAKERZ Well, my "truck gun" (for my current 2016 Honda Pilot, and then in my soon-to-arrive 2021 Chevy Colorado ZR2) is a SKS, and although it "only" cost around $400 when I got it (a few years ago, and no, I didn't get one when they were $80 years earlier than that). Given the scarcity of guns available nowadays (and ammo!) -- not to mention prices have gone UP big-time on BOTH -- I guess $600 would be reasonable. But there would be OTHER valuable stuff stored, too -- like a bandolier of 7.62x39 ammo. And T-P, of course: As we all know -- given the panic-buying we've seen during this Virus Crisis -- T-P can he REAL hard to find, if not "affordable." ;-) BTW, the SKS will ALSO be tethered inside the "safe" (via a 3/8" steel cable) -- 12ga steel won't stop a pry-bar -- so there'll be TWO layers of "anti-POS-ghettotrash-thief" protection for it. Still, I'll be shopping around for other options, as $600 IS a bit steep... I DO have 2 Ft. Knox Pistol Boxes (10ga body, 3/16" plate steel door) I'm using now, but of course, they're small and for sure, won't fit any long-guns...or even a "shorty" shotgun (like a Mossberg 500 "Cruiser"). Ft. Knox DOES make a long-gun storage box ("Shotgun Security Box") -- the same steel thickness as their Pistol Boxes -- but not sure that'd fit on the floor behind the Colorado's seats, and, it'd take up floor space needed when passengers are back there. So it seems something UNDER the seat (and OUT of the way) like this kind of item would the only workable option (aside from a serious "toolbox" in the bed...but with the bed ALREADY being short (5') I don't want to take up the space a toolbox would. -- BR

Received mine today. Agreed it's pricey but far superior to the competition and the useless crap Chevy puts in. Just wish they made some foam inserts for this model like they do for another vehicle box

What is the height (floor to seat) facing rear of vehicle? Closer to the rear of seat.
