I have a middle school child born in US, but living abroad since age 1. She's born there while her father is a student in US. We are not planning to go back to US as a whole family. Do you have any information or would you mention about this kind of cases in your videos. Will my child apply as an international student or domestic student?

Most selective American colleges consider an applicant's full background and experiences when deciding whether or not to accept an applicant. Students who have more than one citizenship are typically considered American or both American and the other nationality for reporting purposes. Applicants will have the chance to report all citizenships. Regardless, such students are also considered in the context of the community and school from which they are applying. Good luck.

Do schools know your race when you apply or are schools forbidden to ask questions about race / ethnicity?

Some colleges still have access to that information upon application while others suppress accessing or viewing such information upon application even if the application asked for it. But there is no legal prohibition on colleges collecting such information before, during, or after the formal admissions process, which is why all colleges should be able to ultimately report publicly the demographics of their entering classes.
