I love the fact that you are honest about your fly fishing skills. Keep fishing, as you say it’s frustrating but some of the most fun you will have. And as far as the tangles and knots go….you couldn’t do them on purpose if you tried.

I carry plenty of leaders now because some of these knots get out of hand!!! Every time I go out, I notice that my skill continue to improves and its amazing to see how bad I was my first year was and now being able to go out and actually catch fish. these are memories that will last a lifetime!

I LOVE Deckers! Im a spinning angler myself, and that river is easily one of the best I've ever fished! 8:15 is One of the BEST honey holes on the river. ESPECIALLY at sunrise.

Great video man. I went out for my first time today. Spent a few hours on eleven mile canyon. Didn’t catch shit, but still had a blast learning. 🤘🏻

Appreciate it! Honestly it took me a long time to learn, I would have people around me catching stuff and I would get skunked, try this, I use 9ft 6x leader with 6x tippet, I tie a size 16-18 fly and then about a foot off from that I tie a size 22-24, I like to use to flies just to increase odds, I put a small weight about 6 inches above that top/bigger fly and my stroke indicator about 3 feet above that, (goal is to get a natural drift so I put on a small weight to help with speed) I’m not a pro by all means but ever since I started using this set-up, I been actually catching fish everywhere I go, might do a video on just a basic set-up and what I use that helps me, hope this helped and let me know how your next trip goes 💪

@@onthelineoutdoors6974 Thanks for the tip. I will give it a shot the next time I go. I just got some property about 15 minutes from 11 mile canyon, so I will be hitting that section of the South Platte river often.

I don’t live too far from deckers. Looks like I need to give it a shot! Lol I’ve been fishing the north end of the south platte by chatfield. Hopefully I’ll see you out there!

I definitely recommend giving it a shot! I will say the further down the river you go the less people you will run into, I been trying to explore new areas this year so I am looking into hiking somewhere to get a little more breathing room! Hope to see you out there and let me know how you do there!

@@onthelineoutdoors6974 I’ll have to do that. I’m wanting to do the same (hiking into somewhere) I know a good trail in the mountains but it’s a decent drive to get there. I’ll keep you posted!

Good stuff dude, hooked up a few nice ones! Just a heads up man, you handle the fish alott, I see your trying to do the right thing but get your hands wet before u grab em and keep it to a minimum. Fish need that film on them and if you rubbing all over em and grabbing w dry hands it can cause issues for the fish. As you get better your handle time and technique will get better as well. I live in Vail if you ever want to hit some remote spots give me holler. Always down to throw some lines ✊🏼

Great video man!! I’ve been having a tough time with finding spots in deckers? If you don’t mind, do you know any good areas on the river to fish or the spots on the video?
@onthelineoutdoors6974
@onthelineoutdoors6974 10 ай бұрын
I feel ya, it took me a while there but it all came down to me using to big of flies, so for areas, I go right past the little store area in deckers and go about half a mile or so past it down river and just park on those little side road parking areas, I would try using smaller flies about size 22 or so and using a little bit thinner tippet like 6x, that’s what helped me there, I know others would probably have better advice but I think that would be a solid start, I haven’t been there since this video but plan on going one of these days because I know this time of year can change many things. I hope this helped, let me know how you do if you go out there and best of luck to you my friend!

The spacing between the flies 6-12 inches or a little more? Looks great out there might be coming out this year ! Happy Fishing!

I usually shoot for about 12 because sometimes i when I go shorter “on accident” it tends to hook the top fly at times! Best of luck to you as well and hope your able to come and enjoy the beauty

Are you using a go pro on your chest while you’re fishing?

Yes I use a chest mount, tried using the head mount but there is just way to much movement with it!

I guess it might just be me, but why do people fish indicators in the summer months? Dry droppers !!

I have been looking into switching to that, still kind of learning as I go but l am definitely going to do more research on how to rig it properly!

Nice, but grabbing, stroking and holding teout out of the water so long for a film op is no good. Its in the net, no need to hand wrestle it out.
