Great video Matt, and thanks for explaining your reluctance to drop in the 210s because it gets you into the "shit spot." I get it now. Am I correct that the setup makes about the same power at the same boost with and without the loud valve, but when the loud valve is open it just makes more boost than with it closed? In which case, I guess I'd prefer quiet exhaust for streettruck.
@SloppyMechanics7 жыл бұрын

Im wondering if the fact that the loud valve was causing more boost just because it was hooked up to +boost pressure. Idk just a though. Probably a dumb that but just food for thought. Little late now either way lol
@lococubaa7 жыл бұрын
the denham, could you be seeing more psi due to the vacuum being applied to open the loud valve? I've seen turbo honda guys adding "T" fittings to the vacuum line before the w/g to increase boost.

I swore I seen this on your page, how would this set up do on pump gas? No changes, just less E and more gas...
@SloppyMechanics7 жыл бұрын
its capable of the same power on pump, you might just be octane limited, depending on your gas quality, elevation etc
@juliahobbick46047 жыл бұрын
hey just thought of a great idea. Do you feel it would be worth it to place a loud valve in front of the turbo intake, that would filter the air under vacuum and under boost bypass the turbo. My only thought on that would be maybe the valve isn't air tight and would in turn bypass the filter anyway. Any thoughts?

So at 72% ethenol with 17 degrees what would be a good timing to aim for if running 93 and a 50/50 water meth? I'm around 12lbs and 14 degrees timing now. Seem I can up my timing more just not sure what too
@SloppyMechanics7 жыл бұрын
theyre all different, but a general rule of thumb is most combinations on pump, with factory compression i like to get them to see 14psi and 14deg peak ignition at peak rpm, then i move everything around from there and see if the car makes better power with 15-16deg over 5000 or so, and take some out of the mid range and see what i can get away with, read plugs, check the dyno etc.

@hereinmissoula117 жыл бұрын
probably up top....... less in midrange
@SloppyMechanics7 жыл бұрын
17 means, 17deg at peak power, peak boost, at peak rpm, its always a ramp from lower timing at lower rpm to keep the gen3 alive, you dont wanna smack it with high boost and high ignition down low, usually
@combee237 жыл бұрын
Alright, that's what I do as well. When you run 17 deg at peak hp, what do run at peak tq? 10/11 ish?

In your honest opinion, how much more then 640 do you think it's capable of, while staying reliable? A pump and injector might take you over the threshold.
@SloppyMechanics7 жыл бұрын
man not much, i have learned to keep the power out of the mid range by keeping ignition out of it, and also with this slightly loose converter might help it, but yes i agree, asking more of it all the time might be asking for trouble, at this hp level its plenty for a street truck like this IMO and reliable.
@jtc187 жыл бұрын
I'm only just in the middle of my first ls turbo build now, I do have an TT, blow through 455 Buick in my rat rod and I have learned that reliable is way easier, running on the ragged edge is fun and makes great power but not when your putting pistons in it every couple hundred miles, especially when you grenade it 90 miles from home and have to wait for a trailer to rescue you. I like to drive my shit home, not tow it.
