A popular route is to connect Silverton to Ouray to Ridgway to Telluride to Cortez. The Million Dollar Hwy being the Silverton to Ouray section. That is the route we chose to follow. So this is not an "instead of" but rather an "as well as" ride. If you are riding through and can only do one part then choose the Million Dollar Hwy, it is far more scenic than this part of the ride.
