I v e been a rail fan almost all my life Max The Rail fan. I used to go away long ago on the train I loved the rides on the train Then I heard later commercial passenger trains were being removed from service I had no idea what was going on then I knew nothing about Amtrak until about 3 years later in 1974 Later I found out commercial passenger were removed because of the interstate highways The high point of the 1950s More people traveling by car or by airplane and abandoning the trains Fortunately I have been able to travel on Amtrak but not since October 1995 Oregon Take it easy I m 61 by the way

I've been to some of the locations in this video program, including the Colorado Railroad Museum (CRRM), the Georgetown Loop Railroad (GLRR), the Denver RTD commuter rail system, the Canon City and Royal Gorge Scenic Route Railroad (CRRX), the Forney Museum of Transportation (FMOT), and Union Station for a journey on the Amtrak California Zephyr from Denver to Sacramento, California for a connecting flight home to Portland, Oregon.

I have ridden a few trains in Colorado. The first one was the Cumbers and Toltec Scenic RR, then on my 14th birthday a ride to Pikes Peak by the cog railroad, twice on the Georgetown Loop Railroad and Royal Gorge Train, RTD Light and Commuter Rail in Denver, Leadville Colorado and South on my 21st birthday, and The San Louis Valley Line from Romeo to Alamosa and from Alamosa to La Veta in the mid-2010’s. I have also ridden the California Zephyr three times. I haven’t ridden the D&SNGRR, and although there is no trains in South Fork, there is a short rail bike service in South Fork, CO.

Hey, guys, I found an interesting fact about the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. In 1960, the line was nearly shut down and threatened with abandonment, but it was rescued it in 1981 by a Florida citrus grower named Charles Edwin Bradshaw Jr.

This video and the four steam seasons DVD's built my childhood, and I honestly think were what sparked my love of trains and their history. I'm so glad that I can watch these again here! Thank you for the fantastic trip back in time! One program I would particularly like to see is Big Steam, as I believe it has footage from another program I believe you may have produced. I can’t be sure, but I believe the Blu Ray 4 disc set called HD Trains, which is the first train related DVD I ever watched as a child, may have been produced by you, as I can faintly remember seeing some previews of yours on that show. It has long since been lost to time after having lost it many years ago, I would be eternally grateful if I could see that and Big Steam published on KZbin if it’s possible.

Note the lead P42 (Presumably added at the La Junta, CO station stop as it is not seen at Las Animas, CO, which is before the aforementioned station stop 54:11) @ 55:52, 57:56, and 60:08. It is leading its number-sake train! Also note the semaphore dropping @ 55:52! Speaking of which, any idea when the semaphores between La Junta and Trinidad were removed? Correct me if I am wrong but there are still semaphores between Raton, NM and Albuquerque still in service as of 2023, right?

I shot a semaphore west of La Junta in 2000 and the mast for its replacement had been erected a short time before. So my guess is that those went around that time. What is left now: On BNSF's Raton Sub, there ar the three at ESS Colmerr, the three at WSS Levy, the two intermediates between Levy and Wagon Mound, and the three at ESS Wagon Mound. Thee five semaphores on NMRX Abluquerque Sub trackage are still there, but the replacemnt lights are there and installed. Just waiting on power to be strung to them, so the NMrX semaphores are most immediately endangered,

Sadly, no. Creede politics doomed it. Not all in Creede were opposed, but enough with power or influence were, and had the tracks removed from the city limits. Hopefully someone can make a go of it, but they won't be stopping for shopping in Creede.
