The background is the cops showed up to someone who had called for roadside assistance because their car was stuck, but was experiencing a paranoid episode and didn't want to leave his car. They determined that because he wasn't a danger to himself or others and that he was committing no crime, and because their attempts to get him out of the car were only agitating him, it'd be best to just leave him in there. Despite that, officer Buen acted on his own and smashed Glass's window because he was apparently tired of waiting around. Instead of reprimanding him for his reckless actions, the other officers either stood by and watched or joined in. They tased him and shot him with beanbag rounds through the smashed window, which made Glass hysterical. He grabbed a pocket knife and stabbed himself with it, and Buen shot him five times in response despite Glass still being inside the vehicle and not being an immediate threat to any of the cops present. Buen was charged with murder, and a bunch of other officers on the scene were charged with failure to intervene for not stopping him when he recklessly escalated things by smashing the window. Some of them pled guilty to that charge to avoid a reckless endangerment or criminally negligent homicide charge.

any1 who thinks they have all the answers is defo part of the problem. cops deal with all sorts of ppl in all situations & there isn't & never will be a black & white way to deal with all the computations. cops have to be able to say what is & what isn't right without fear of cop on cop intimidation based on such things as time served. its a difficult job & mistakes will be made but no cover ups & no macho man PDs would be a start. my heartfelt blessings go to the victims loved 1s.
