Pro tip sleeping: sleep on your gear three nights at home prior to the trip. Take ear plugs and Tylenol pm the first 2 nights on trail to reduce sourness and aid sleep wear loaded pack three days prior trip during training. these methods have worked for me 30+ years. good luck and enjoy the adventure

So I guess I'll unpack my unicycle ;) Was planning on my first segments (2 & 3) this summer ... ya got me scared, you've got me hooked to watch the next video!

I’ll be out there in July for my thru hike, sooooo excited. Did the first 2 sections last summer

Oh man! Can’t wait to hear how the through hike goes for you. If you can handle segment two, you can handle anything. Thanks, Mark!

@@OutsideComfortZone thanks bro! I definitely can’t wait. Trying to decide if I want to get a gopro type camera to record it and make a video. Today’s weather has me so excited for it. Was in the 60s here in Co with an awesome sunset.

03:00-03:12 and right near the end your audio cuts out. Great video! I’m excited to watch more! This will be my first thru hike. Totally agree about the chocolate. It helps so much on long treks!

I would most likely eat all the chocolate before I made it out of the parking lot. But I will try my best.

It truly is a struggle to not eat it all before starting the hike! haha!

I'd advise camping on the hill overlooking the Platte, not right next to it. Otherwise CONDENSATION.
@OutsideComfortZone3 жыл бұрын
You're super right about that! This year was crazy for condensation for some reason!
@ellenshopes99653 жыл бұрын
Nice intro. Last I looked, camping was NOT allowed at the Platte River at the end of the first segment. Day use only.
@OutsideComfortZone3 жыл бұрын
Yep! You're partially right. It's not allowed past or next to the river, but there are lots of spots where people camp about 100 yards before the river itself. I've always seen dozens of tents here each year.

Best shuttle company to get from Denver to Waterton?
@OutsideComfortZone2 жыл бұрын
This is a great question, Joshua, and I think the best option here (at least the simplest) is to take the train from the airport to the end of the line at Mineral Station and then call an Uber. It's not perfect, but it works. The other option, which is also great, would be to get the Trail Angel and Shuttlers list from the Colorado Trail Foundation and trade an angel lunch for a ride. This is a great way to begin building community before setting off on the adventure. Hope this helps!

did you end up finishing the trail?
@OutsideComfortZone3 жыл бұрын
I've done the entire trail, but last summer was only Denver-Silverton. I did the Collegiate Loop in 2015 and Monarch Pass-Durango in 2016. I also did segments 1-4 two years ago. Every step of the trail is amazing.

@@OutsideComfortZone I'm not a regular smoker whatsoever, but when I go out into the backcountry it's so nice to have a way to get a little buzz without carrying alcohol.
