I just found your channel/website today and I am floored at how beautiful your videos are, and how helpful you and your family are. I live in CA and hoping maybe 2023 or 2024 to visit CO and do some segments of the CT. I really appreciate the info that you share - it is really wonderful!

I would place my vote as the single most dramatic spot of the Colorado Trail is where the Colorado Trail parts company with the Continental Divide Trail just to the south of Stoney Pass. You start getting some nice views of the Needles/Grenadiers before the trail dives into Elk Creek. For a better view try Hunchback Peak or better yet White Dome. Hunchback is very easy while White Dome requires some easy scrambling. Definitely dogable and the views are much better at 13,600 feet. I haven't gone beyond the Stewart Creek Trailhead on the Colorado Trail so a lot of unknowns but I have covered the San Juans back in the day. I really enjoy your videos as you have covered in detail parts of Colorado I haven't visited..

I thru hiked the CT in 2019 during one of the worst snow years. I think I made it to this segment around July 20th, and it still had a ton of snow. Even with the snow, the San Juans were definitely my favorite part of the trail.

It is one heck of a view....But it ain't Carson. Looking at the bench mark you will see you are on Coney Point.. According to my map Carson Peak is three or four miles to the west beyond Carson "Pass" and Bent Peak. It appears that the trail stays at the base of Carson and keeps clear of the easy summit. Whatever...who cares what you call it...its beautiful. Back in the day I found climbing thrilling (Yipes...Im gonna die) but the tundra walks to be very relaxing...at least until black evil clouds show up (Yipes...Im gonna die). I have lived in Durango since 1979 and have spent as much time as I could in the San Juans. Do you plan to make Durango this year? I'll keep my eyes open downtown. Maybe the three of you could autograph my old ice ax!

Yah always tough to correctly ID peaks when my research beforehand isn’t spot on - appreciate the insight though! Would love to sign it - we aren’t down there until next year most likely.
