Good video, it baffles me that people have to even ponder "regulating" whether we can use rain water that rolls off our roof. That is a prime example of government reaching too far.

I realize that Colorado got itself into this pickle by allowing early settlers to claim "ownership" of the state's water resources and these claims are passed down to later owners of their land. Perhaps one solution would be for the state government to exercise eminent domain upon (say) 1% of the privately owned water claims. That wouldn't materially affect the state's farmers and other land owners, but it would mean that they could no longer claim ownership of every single drop state residents collect in their rain barrels.

The restriction on the collection and storage of rain water is completely illogical since the water collected is by no means lost. Rather, in fact, it is saved and thus protected from evaporation. It is a much better use of rain water than letting it go to evaporation. It is also released at a more gradual rate than "boom or bust". Therefore, if the concern is the conservation and efficient use of rain water, then the state of Colorado ought to be PROMOTING property owners to store unlimited quantities of water. Is there another motive at work that Coloradans not being told?

This is wild. Colorado will regulate drinking water soon, and people still waste so much water on beer in this state 🤦🏼♂️.
