My buddy is a funeral director and I will never forget a story he told me 15 years ago about receiving a body from a man who took a ball through his face that snapped off the ball mount. Incredibly gruesome and of course a closed casket. From that point forward I have never hooked a strap to a hitch ball. Guy in a pickup was trying to pull out a farm tractor, ball snapped off the hitch, straight through his head. It works just fine until the one time it doesn't and it can be fatal. Fellow KZbinr, not trolling in the slightest, just trying to provide a little context as to why I think you might want to reconsider. It is also a good reason NOT to help someone who is stuck when the cards are stacked against you unless its a life or death situation because the liability might not be worth it even though we all agree we feel like superman when we get someone unstuck. Again, not trying to be the "Ackchyually" guy in the KZbin comments because I absolutely despise receiving those kinds of comments, but this one is more like a PSA than anything to double check rigging before sending it.

Bobby I 2nd this comment, or at least get those things that go over the rope that help prevent this situation from happening... Also, when are you just gonna add yank straps to the 717 website?!?!?!

He won't listen people have been commenting this for years on every recovery video
I actually work for Republic. The company whose truck is in the video and 55k is a very fair estimate.

If that ball breaks it's gonna be a missile , might be worth getting a good quality Recovery Hitch for $100-$300 and save the potential risk lol , nice recovery though :P

They lots of quality economical ones for a low as $30/80 that can withstand 3X the weight of the strap limits

As a person who has worked for both Republic and WM, 55K is a fair estimate of weight on that truck. Empty, that truck is probably 32,000-34,000 lbs... legally that truck likely tops out at around 66,000 lbs fully loaded (depending on GVWR, axle ratings, tires and whether or not that tag axle is dropped at the rear). You likely saved him 2 hours waiting on a tow truck.

Shame on you. Sorry to be that guy but your platform is to large to be spreading false information. Recovering from the toe hitch is a huge red flag no. I'm glad you took those pulls lightly or someone could have died. Only use proper recover tools and locations
