I have a 36 gallon planted aquarium with a piece of driftwood, aquarium soil under medium sand. Lots of plants, one piece of lava rock, and a piece of petrified wood, two other rocks. I have naturally harder water . I live in the Midwest. I have 5 Amano shrimp. One young honey gourami, male. 7 black neons, 7 green neons, 6 gold white mountain minnows. 5 Pygmy Cory’s. 1 young Siamese algae eater. 2 green Cory’s that are 4 years old. My honey gourami comes to the front of the tank every time I stand near the tank observing, he is not shy . He acts a lot like Bettas I’ve had in previous tank set ups. I’ve had a 30 gallon long in the past. I’ve had fish tanks since 1976. 10 gallon, 20 gallon. This is my first gourami. I’m enjoying him so much. I named him Mycroft. If you do not have room in your home for a 55 gallon or larger, the honey gourami is worth looking into. Enjoy your tanks everyone.
