I realize this video is older but if anyone else stumbles on it… I know in the description she says that the paper doesn’t get along great with watercolor paints. What I will say is that I have found a lot of success using Korean or other Asian brand watercolors that are semi moist or are “gummy” and using them in a way that is different than I normally use them. I don’t do washes, I use very little water and I more or less draw with paint like one might with ink. I’ve watched a lot of Korean colorists use this method and these paints in this book and others with much thinner paper. I use Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors, Holbein watercolors, Paul Ruben and Super Vision watercolors. And I use super soft natural hair brushes. Or watercolor pencils. That’s why has worked with me although the paper is pulpit so oversaturating it or scrubbing at it won’t help at all. I hope it’s helps someone!

Hi Rebecca, Another fab painting,love how you chose your own colours,great results! What a good idea these books are, either to copy exactly for a novice ,or like you've done ,use your own colours and end up with a completely different result! Thanks for sharing 😉😉X

It turned out really pretty even though you didn't like the paper. Some gesso might help or you might try it with gouache.

Thanks, Ellie, yep I think I'm gonna get the gesso out for the next one and YES, never thought of gouache for this, thanks for the idea I will defo give it a go. I think I will even put gesso underneath the gouache too.
