I love how the colors look so vivid but actually aren't that saturated they're just so bright next to each other. A true color theory genius

Nonsense, some of the pieces shown here do have bright colours, lol...
@libbymay
@libbymay Жыл бұрын
@@yueshijoorya601 Of course some of them are very saturated but, most aren't that high in saturation. A beginner might look at this and think they have to up their saturation on each color to the highest setting but a lot of them are midway saturated but some are highly saturated. It comes together, working with values properly, to look very bright even though some colors aren't as saturated as they appear.

As soon you showed the art, I thought: ORC STAIN! (I went back and looked and yep, it was him.) Wow, I love his use of color (and busy af art). Great stuff. Dang, I need to check out what he's been up to in the last decade! 😂

He’s gotten popular enough that he’s doing a lot of cover work for the big two. Frankly it gives me a lot of hope for mainstream comics that his style is considered marketable!

Imitating and deconstruct someone's artstyle is one of the greatest way to find your own style no matter if it coloring or illustrating! My artstyle is semi realist and i have a handful of artists and illustrator that inspired me. One of my favorite artist is Lee Bermejo!

What I've learned from a few years of experimenting with colours is that after a while I can get a feel for which colours will work and which won't. Then, you don't have to "trust the process" so much as you can already sort of visualize what the piece will look like just from your flats.

I paint my Warhammer 40,000 miniatures in a very similar style and I can confirm that these tricks work. What I would add is that if you want a piece to look really vibrant, it can help to use desaturated colors and non-colors as well to contrast the vibrant colors to let them pop even more.

When I was in art school a cool exercise we did was drawing an object with pencil then you’d draw it in Color when you were done you’d then grab a random handful of colors and redraw the object a third time. Since you drew it twice before you kinda understood the shading and the darks and lights where they needed to go so when you finished you were left with a product kinda like what your showing here.

I tried to pick up art since every one in family is amazing. And I think this idea is what held me back..besides not having talent. The idea of trusting to process. I always want to just sit down and draw with out steps. As someone who writes music...I should know better lol.😆

There’s a difference between Stealing art and Learning from art. Using other people’s works to learn from, then implementing what you learned into your own work is fine. Copy and pasting, maybe changing a few things, then calling it your own isn’t. I think people don’t realize that these are two separate practices. So, art wasn’t stolen in this short, it was learned from.

That’s a great take. I used the word stealing pretty facetiously here, but I still did feel a bit guilty actually putting his art on a layer and sampling it so frequently. But it was all a huge learning experience and I’m going to try to evolve the techniques to merge with my own style

If you want to know how that artists brain works you need to do lots and lots of very powerful drugs.
@badinkstudios
@badinkstudios Жыл бұрын
You never know. Sometimes the weirdest artists are the least exciting in their home life. I went to go see Don Hertzfeldt speak years ago in college. Someone in the audience was like “dude what is your drug of choice to make all these crazy animations!” He was like, “oh actually I don’t do anything. I can’t even drink coffee because my hands shake. I’m an animator so I have to be very focused and precise.” Sometimes the weirdness is so weird because it comes from a deeply authentic place that isn’t enhanced by anything
