I was born in ‘48 and remember my mother’s and my aunt’s dresses from the ‘50’s. We would take the train from our small town to go to Greensboro (NC) to shop. They always wore high heels, hats, often gloves. When my aunt died, we found a trunk full of clothes; I had them dry cleaned and donated to a university drama department.

Cuban authorities said in mid-afternoon they had successfully stabilized the grid after several major failures since Friday, when Cuba's entire national electrical grid first crashed before Oscar's arrival, leaving 10 million people without electricity. The last hurricane knocked out the entire power grid on the island of Cuba. Not sure if it's back on or not. Beautiful creative people, music, art, and food. Buildings pretty, but crumbling when I went in 2008.

As an aside, "PAA" was the then three lettered abbreviation for "Pan American Airways." Later, they would shift to using two letters (as all major airlines would do) and identified themselves as "PA" ("Pan Am" or "Pan American"). I have a photograph of my Grandfather boarding a "PAA" flight in the mid-1950's as he was taking a trip from New York City (Idlewild Airport) to Dublin Ireland (where he was from). Idlewild Airport is now known as John F. Kennedy International.
