As a newcomer to buying into Project Sam (I have other libraries by Spitfire, OT, etc.). I am thrilled by their product. I really underestimated it. Their player is awesome and has many features like adaptive sync that I WISH others had. Project Sam has a very upfront sound for that big Hollywood mood that approximates Danny Elfman. However, I was able to match it to Spitfire's Abbey Road by simply putting the sounds into a room and setting it back. I did a side by side comparison and sent it to a friend who couldn't tell the difference. For the price and extreme functionaliy of Project Sam products... it's a great value.

How do you like this compared to the runs in Hollywoodwinds?
@SecondTierSound2 жыл бұрын
Hollywoodwinds have more scales, but only woodwinds, and not strings and trumpets. And runs is a lot easier to execute. But Hollywoodwinds is still excellent and has other things to offer, and it's playable as well.

How do composers integrate this? I suposse they use it with other SAM vsts? Otherwise it looks easier to enter or play these notes , if your piece uses so much other orchestra. Nevertheless there is some nuances that are hard to imitate, even playing well. But remember too that we use these strong runs when we don´t hear the details so well...

If you know what you are doing, and it is well baked in, you can use libraries that don't have run patches. But it won't sound as good and it takes longer to create. I find that this works well with or without projectsam. In general, projectsam is great for quick productions with high sound quality.

@@SecondTierSound yes i got impressed by the free orchestra. It is interesting how they look all as part of a composition that was done but you don’t know where, since the patches looks like from same performance or so. Just wonder how flexible these „ready made“ patches are (compositionally and „timbrically“) . But honestly i didn’t even put my HO at proof regarding runs. For runs (as FX) i prepared my own sampled strings on Logic Proś sampler, it is „sample modeling“ then . Otherwise i just do play on piano 🎹 and edit. Regarding phrase libraries there is a great podcast called „Is Epic music saturated?“ or smth like this. Yes , it IS saturated haha, That’s why there is espace to do great things…(paradox). Now i just wish Symphobia gets some -50% with Full Kontakt alltogheter.

I have a video on symphobia, and also on how to create runs. It might be helpful

@@SecondTierSound yes i watched it, it is as i thought: the pro version of the free orchestra. The free version is really an ad, an useful advertisement

@@SecondTierSound has a bit of a royal/heroic feel, so why not "Regal Field's" or something haha

Of all these type of library, this is the best value; but Red Room Audio's allows midi export; and has other scales and arps; Cinesamples is even more detailed, but strings and woods would cost around 300 Euros' this is typical of libnraries, in order to get all the features you might need, you have to buy around three different libraries, whicvh gets expensive, if you are not a professional. Frustrating.
