Watching these reviews of Project SAM's libraries is a pleasure in itself. You have a great voice and great personality - it's like you could make a career of reviewing virtual instruments :D.

Nearly 8 years later and there is still very little out there that offers cartoon sound ensembles/instruments. Sonokinetics' "Bells & Whistles" seems to be another good, though not as extensive, cartoon instrument. Would have liked a more recent review of this instrument, but, like everyone else in the comments, greatly enjoyed this fun & helpful overview. Thanks. :-)

did you ever get a new keyboard? have you tried the NI 88 sorta weighted - but handy using NKS files - lots of assignable knobs - also - have you considered the maschine 3 - great as a midi controller for percussion or pads.

hello, did i need really kontakt for 600 bucks on top to use the symbhobia instruments?
@guyrowland47115 жыл бұрын
No - the Symphobia series are all Kontakt Player libraries, so no need to buy full Kontakt. (FWIW, I think Kontakt is nearer $350, and that's not in a sale)

Great review of the product. Very entertaining. It even got me to buy it. Worst $300 I ever spent though. I was expecting an EXPANSIVE library for that price. What I got was disappointing. On top of it, the Kontakt interface is crap. *DON'T BUY IT.*
@guyrowland47119 жыл бұрын
Bit odd Orangefuzz - I went through every patch in the library and the interface is on screen the entire time. It's pretty hard to be misleading, really - not sure how the reality was so different for you. Oh, gotta put up the 1.1 update video in a few days. 500mb of new goodies.

Guy Rowland You did a great job on the description. I'm not bashing you in any way. Your video actually convinced me to buy it. But for $300, I was expecting hundreds of varied sounds. Not a couple dozen in different keys. Maybe my expectations were too high for what it was- but for the price, I thought there would be more. I certainly regret paying it. I could have recreated these in FL Studio with a soundfont. Also, they could have provided individual WAV files of the samples for more flexibility.

orangefuzzz How did you manage to blow $ 300 on this!? On Project Sams official page it's $ 169.
@orangefuzzz9 жыл бұрын
***** When I made the purchase, the cost was $235 USD. Since I'm from Canada, that makes it nearly $300.

Ha - my "voiceover work" is limited to a kids TV show on CBBC called DiddyTV, where I'm the (uncredited) continuity announcer on every episode. My voice there is pitched up to helium levels. Might try that on the next walkthrough in another attempt to take peoples' mind of my dodgy playing.
