I had to search Crip signs to see what you were talking about. The sign you are talking about was a Mickey Cobra sign. Cobras started out as a segment of P Stones but fell out and went separate in the 70s. Gang hand signs in Chicago have been there ever since the beginning. The handshakes in Chicago include the hand sign in the shake.

Those were all Chicago hand signs in Common's video, I know that the Bloods founder is originally a Black P stone from Chicago and got permission to start a chapter of "Stones" in L.A. that they called "Bloods" maybe thats the sign you are talking about. Check out that F.E.D.S. magazine DVD, the story in on there.

I remember the first time , living on the east coast , my friends and I heard about LA street gangs from Run DMC. They talked about dealing with the gang culture when they did a concert in LA. When I first saw Colors , I thought “ what kinda gang members are these?” The dress code just looked like a cross between street bum and field slave. Later to find out that these were depictions of real west coast gang culture .
@pookiebenny78194 жыл бұрын
#INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC urbansmoothent east coast has more culture imow
@urbansmoothent44 жыл бұрын
Pookie Benny yeah I know your right. One thing that stood out to me, it showed all us in the east coast that the crime culture was universal and a thug with a jeri curl was still just as deadly as a thug with waves. Don’t sleep on anyone. Tred in the wrong area and get dealt with.
@aaroneaton5834 жыл бұрын
For some reason East coast always thought they was but don't judge a book by its cover

And now the east coast have crips and bloods

Chicago's gangs have hand signs, certain colors and what side you wear the bib of a baseball cap to (Left or right) We saw colors and thought that LA gangs were copying Chicago's ways because we didn't know anything about Bloods and Crips and the gangs in Chicago have been strong since the early 1950s.
@socialmedia78124 жыл бұрын
Could care less about that lifestyle i lived it during the early 90s but gangs started in los angeles early 1940s. It started because of rascism hispanic side
@johnkim30002 жыл бұрын
@@socialmedia7812 started earlier with asian gangs since the late1800. During gold rush and Chinese railrood labor

Here we go again with people comparing their cities gangs. The Hoyo Maravilla and White Fence Started in the 1930's and the 38th street gang started in the 20's. Mexican gangs have been around way longer than Bloods and Crips. The Latin Kings started in the 40's and The Black Chicago Gangs started in the 50's-60's. No one is really Copying anyone. Many gang members moved around and started their home gangs elsewhere. Some sets from similar gangs even beef with each other Chicago and Los Angeles are both crazy cities. Even The Bulls and Lakers were good teams. I won't compare the Bears to the Rams because that's unfair lol. But the Cubs (for one year) and Dodgers are really good. Both Cites have Black and Chicano roots
@punchblmers1926 ай бұрын
@meztizo_americano86 There's nothing "root" in this; it was just a bunch of inbred killing each other over feeling being hurt.
