I don't think I would use this method for deciding if I should be betting or not on a particular shooter. I appreciate the idea but I'm pretty sure if we did 1 hour of this as a test we would find it would be a pretty even win to lose ratio or woulda of coulda won ratio. Honestly sometimes my favorite shooters are people who have never threw dice before or even know how to play the game properly. I rather gamble on that fun then waiting a bunch of rolls where I could be winning. If I lose on that gamble OH WELL.. crap. :)

@MisterMechanicV3 жыл бұрын
You definitely need to be counting all rolls if doing 5 count method. The supposed 8.5 rolls average per shooter is based on including all the craps numbers, so there is no reason not to count those. If you're waiting for a 5 count on strictly box number hits, you'll very frequently just lose your bets as soon as you make them. Whereas on a true 5 count you could've already made some profit hits, and regressed to guarantee profit before the inevitable 7.

So I think a lot of people are missing the actual point of this strategy. It's to keep you at the table longer so that you have a better chance of running into a streak shooter, nothing more, nothing less. By avoiding the rollers who 7 out within those 5 rolls you're saving your bankroll and seeing more shooters. The more shooters you see the better odds of one of them having that random 15 roll or higher run. It's been a while since I used this method, but there were several times where I outlasted every person at the table that I started with. Sometimes I then ended up ahead, and other times I just continued to slowly lose my bankroll, but regardless I would have busted out much sooner had I not been playing this strategy.

I have heard and have seen people betting with this idea; it's weird to me. There is so many different mathematic forces at play in Craps like you mentioned Jeremy. 8.5 rolls is the average, and this 5 count method doesn't start til you make a point. Couple that with a Seven rolling 1in 6 rolls on average; this idea is going to propagate a whole lot more quick losses than anything else in the long run. I have to imagine this idea was dreamt up by someone who thinks things are less than random. Thanks Jeremy for rolling out tons of different ways to play.

Great video Color Up. FYI, @ the 11:35 mark, you hit the Point (8) but didn't flip the puck to Off (the first 8 was rolled @ the 10:00 mark as roll # 1 in the "5 Count Method"). On the next roll, you rolled another 8 which would have established a new Point as it was technically the Come Out roll. In this instance, you still would've paid the 8 as that was a Come bet from the previous roll, but you next four rolls were all 11's (which you paid out because you thought the puck was Off). In reality, you would have never been paid on those four 11's as you already established a Point (unless you were playing another Come bet ... but I don't think you were) and then proceeded to roll two back to back 7's thereafter.

@@ColorUp Yea I caught this immediate and then watched it played out so I could see if it would of even made a difference. We can't prove it's any better then any other method without multiple hours over multiple days, but it is a strategy none the less. And in all fairness, when I "practice" I often do the payouts for a point hit first and forget to turn off the puck. I tried turning off the puck first and then I forget the payouts. There's no way to make it prefect when you are 1 person filling in for 3 dealers while practicing.

Given that the average roll is 8.5, it does not make any statistical sense to hold out until the end of the average roll so you can catch the 7. I have also seen strategies where people suggest only staying in for 5 rolls, which makes more statistical sense for dodging 7s, but cuts you out on the longer rolls that would be making you money. The only advantage this system has is that you have your money on the table less of the time overall which reduces your overall negative expectation.

Which begs the question: what’s a random roller? We’ve all seen “dice setters” go one and out followed by random rollers who go 12, 15, 17 or more rolls. Sometimes the table will see a long roller and then, as if on queue, the next 5 or 6 shooters go no more than five rolls. It can be a rewarding and unforgiving game all at the same time. It really just matters how you line up your bets. Thanks for the insight.
@rezidentbivrip3 жыл бұрын
I would say a random roller is someone that picks up the dice, shakes them and then tosses them. Then you have a rhythm roller. That is someone who has a very specific routine that usually also involves setting the dice to a specific set before their toss. Then you have wannabe dice controllers, these are people who've seen a few KZbin videos, set the dice and try to mimic what they see actual dice controllers do, but do not do any type of practice or haven't taken any type of courses. Then you have actual dice controllers, people who take it very seriously who practice for hours on end to have their throw be consistent and their results repeatable. Most people that you see setting the dice are probably in the wannabe category. But if you get at the table with someone who's truly good at dice control, someone like a Howard Newman, Dominic Loriggio, Frank Scobleti, Stanford Wong... These guys are the best of the best, and roll with them or watch them roll and you will see consistently longer rolls and repeatable results. Like anything, there are levels of skill. Those guys are major league talent and treat it like a sport. They practice, tweak, chart results, alter their throws, learn new things and improve their craft. Most other people who practice it are minor league, little league or softball league talent. Sure they practice and are ok at it... But they don't take it as seriously as the best of the best. There's also natural talent that comes into play. Sorry for the LONG ass post. But a random roller is someone who just grabs the dice and tosses them without much thought 🤣
@PurpleflashCraps4 ай бұрын
The Captain's definition of a random roller is someoone who doesn't take care with the dice (setting, soft toss w/repeated same motion, etc. In the case you described in your question, the 5-Count would save you alot of money. In craps, you need to protect your bankroll until that long roll (12, 15, 17 or more as you say) comes along. The 5-Cou nt will protect you till you get to that long roller, whether he or she is a Dice controller or just a plain ol' Random roller.

I always laugh at people who dump on "random shooters" and fancy themselves as "dice control shooters" it's been my experience that most people might TRY to utilize dice control but don't actually pull it off and their dice hitting the face wall turn them into a "random shooter" anyways. There is zero validity to the five count. The dice have no memory so you can get hit on the sixth roll or seventh. Meanwhile a random shooter might throw three sixes in the first five rolls which you could have been on. Here's my way. The shooter throws two inside numbers..the come out and then the 2nd. Go 66 inside for two rolls and down.
@ColorUp3 жыл бұрын
No validity to 5 count, would also mean no validity to playing two rolls and down. 1 in 6 chance the 7 appears on each and every roll, even the first two :) also as soon as you put your bets back up on next shooter, same chance applies.

Ok. According to the Wizard of Odds, the average roll is 8.5255....So if you count to five rolls, you are leaving, on the average, 3 rolls before the 7. Yeah..it's an average which means wild swings either way or just a flat situation. I prefer to watch the table before I bet on randys..and the five count can come in handy if you notice sevens closing in..and you bet the don'ts. But random shooters who come out with inside numbers..or early repeaters..I will give them a shot if the table isn't showing sevens within a couple rolls.

If you want the best strategy that hands down wins all of the time, I'm more than happy to share it. On a $500 bankroll, the strat I use averages $736 on a full table. Not to mention the 5-count is the most boring betting strategy of all time. You sit forever twiddling your thumbs to finally get in the game and then you can hit a 7-out right after making your first 1 or 2 bets. If you want to maximize this strategy against random rollers you might as well bet $0 on them all of the time and keep your hands in your pockets. Success! All strategies have their issues though and this one does as well. I don't like the title of your video. It is NOT the best betting method for random rollers at a craps table. That is a very personal and subjective title and completely untrue.

Titles are to attract viewers. No such thing as a best strategy, not even a winning strategy exists despite your claim you can share one that “wins all of the time” All strategies win sometimes, no strategy wins all the time. You can submit strategies on my dice advice form at www.colorup.club

Lol more rolls the closer you are to the 7 not a great system

No such thing as being closer to 7. Every roll is independent and a 1 in 6 chance of 7 showing.

Craps Rule #1: Repeat after me. THE DICE HAVE NO M-E-M-O-R-Y. A shooter surviving a five count has proven NOTHING! It's no better or worse than an 8 or 10 count. The next roll is an INDEPENDENT EVENT. Same is true when pressing up your bets after a 12 count. Next roll is INDEPENDENT of EVERYTHING that has occurred previously. I never ceased to be amazed at how people can accurately quote the specific odds of any craps bet on the table and then actually believe as if a roll count some how affects those odds. Craps Rule #2: There is NO such thing as playing with "house money." If you win a bet and are paid off, it is IMMEDIATELY YOUR MONEY. It is YOUR decision whether to rack it up, cash it in or re-wager it on another bet of some fashion. One the one hand, I can understand why losing any profit over and above your buy in "stings less," but, on the other hand, I'm not certain why it stings less at all IF your objective was to actually MAKE MONEY. If you rack up $500 in profit and give it all back you've completely failed in your objective.

Most gamblers know the two “rules” you stated but don’t care. They are gambling after all 🤷♂️

This seems like a good strat for online casino craps

There is no best method just have fun or play roulette where its extremely predictable
@ColorUp3 жыл бұрын
Yep, no best method, have fun is great advice. Roulette is no more predictable though
@trellw213 жыл бұрын
@@ColorUp roulette is definitely more predictable, spin the ball 38 times(because there is 38 numbers) and you'll see that 33% of the numbers about 12-14 numbers on average will never show. If you never bet on any of those numbers you lost 0 units on them. If you know what not to bet on it makes it obvious what to bet on :) remember you don't need much of an edge to reverse the odds back into your favor. This can only be done with math. Cheers

@@trellw21 with math? It can only really be done with hindsight, which doesn't work in a negative expectation random game.
@trellw213 жыл бұрын
@@randy5248 no hindsight needed, we have reliable averages which can be predicted before the game even starts. 24 numbers will show in 38 spins this is written in stone. Cheers

I enjoy the content on this channel, but c'mon now. There is no such thing as a "random roller" vs a "skilled shooter". It's all just probability and blind luck. The shooter, the vibe, and all that kind of stuff has no bearing on any of the outcomes, and it's irresponsible to suggest otherwise.
