Sad day it is to hear the passing of Gary Moore aged 58. Pure Genius who will be sadly missed.

This was I liked Gary the best for. I mean Colosseum II. The most creative period of him. He was an original talent. I miss him so much!

This is a musical side of Gary Moore that many people never saw, but to me it's him at his peak.

Totally agree! As a small child (8 yo) this was the first I heard of Gary; Lizzy came a little later, but this is his technical apex! Wonderful

Exactly...Gary was a JazzRock giant...his real passion I believe....

Playing this type of music really honed his chops to the next level. No wonder he was such a monster player when he joined Thin Lizzy afterwards. Had he gone to LA and remained there, he would've been a Top Dog among guys like Van Halen, Rhoads, Lynch, etc.

A precocious talent from Gary Moore, but lets not forget the drive behind the band Mr.Jon Hiseman a brilliant drummer and a master of forming talented musicians.into some great musical exploits.

I saw these live in Tiffany's Mumbles back in the day.....amazing... John Mole on bass... fantastic bass solo...Jon Hiseman's incredible drum solo...while juggling his drumsticks?...Wow! Gary Moore...hat a virtuoso....and keyboard player Don Airey..... masters of their craft! R.I.p. Jon and Gary! What a tragedy to music! Your passing!

Long live music.

Woah this is like Al Di Meola! I had no idea Gary wrote music like this being a fan of his 80s solo work. He is versatile as can be.

i will never forget the night i was sat in my bedroom (alone as a young teen I might add) listening to John Peel and he played this. My memory is crap but I remember it well, one of those things embossed on a mind. I thought simply wow, and who the hell is that guitar player cos I love him already never mind the rest of them. Obviously Gary is foremost in my mind now but what innovation and only Gary could have pulled it off with his all round abilitiy and style.

Brings back memories of my grammar school days listening to them on the radio in concert and being stunned by Gary Moore. I dont think he ever equalled the work on these albums !! Brilliant stuff and so inventive.

This is the period where Gary developed his alternate picking style to keep up with Don Airey. This was when he was at his best. I have all 3 albus. Shame they didn't make more. Gary still plays this tune as a solo piece in his set today. They also made a few appearances on the Old Grey Whistle test. Does anyone have the footage. Please ,please post it on here if you have. There are bands around today that cant touch this and this is nearly 30 years old now!!

I allways was a big fan of Colosseum I and had the chance to see one of best concerts I ever heard back in 1971. But I did'nt know of Colosseum II at those days, and wouldn't have had no idea of a guitarrist named Gary Moore. This video here shows once more how a fine and furious player Gary was, and what different styles he could play.
@mkilner13 жыл бұрын
damn damn good!...Gary must have been reveling in his time, so many influences around him, he soaked them up and spatt them out with exuberance and skill that many will dream about, god i will miss this great guitarist!
@ahab696913 жыл бұрын
One of the most ignored artist in contemporary terms - never too old too R&R but much far too young to die - and yes he will be missed - but did he get the recognition, attention and respect that he should have during his lifetime - probably only from other musicians / guitar players and a very small group of listerners / consumers. the thesis "life is NOT fair" is reflected in the fact that dozens / hundreds of crap artists hit the charts while some diamonds stay hidden in the mud :( R.I.P.

Great technique aside, I always loved Gary Moore for his soulfulness, you can really see that he puts his heart into every note. I still have the original 3 vinyl LPs from this group and as soon as they were available I got them on CD and they are still on my mp3 player... Two other great bands of the same era I'd recommend, if you're not familiar with them already, are Camel from England and Focus from Holland.
