Shortly before his passing in 2011, the great Gary Moore had talked with Don Airey about how great it would be to reform the band. Gary regarded it as the best band he had ever been in. Another if only.

Yet another of Gary's great talents: Being able to play fusion while still moving around and posing like he's putting on a rock show, as opposed to other fusion players who wore the guitar under their chins and stared at their hands while standing there like mummies.

I remember taping this straight to cassette from the radio. Never saw the video till today... talk about a time warp. 42 years and still blows me away. Did not know it was Gary Wright on lead guitar... he made it look so easy. It was a great time to grow up in Blighty. Now retired in the US. Thank you Utube. Oops edit that Gary Moore. My bad. Gary Wright was the Dreamweaver. Told you I was getting old.

Is there anything Gary Moore can't play? He must have been born great, because he looks very young here and he's outstanding! Also, a shout out to Don Airey, he must have played in every good rock band in the 80's and 90's. He is everywhere!

Saw the band a few months before or after ( showing my age as l can't remember ) this televised concert at Sussex university . Stunning musicians all especially Gary Moore who was so versatile and could go from playing Blues , Heavy Rock and as here Jazz/ Rock Fusion . Their albums are classics from this genre of music so popular in the mid to late 70's . RIP Gary and John .

Sadly gone forever never to come again as todays so called 'musicians' don't have anywhere near this level of virtuosity to even attempt it!

I knew Gary Moore was great at pentatonic blues-based stuff. I had no idea he was also this good at chord-scale fusion. Now that he's gone, I can't help but feel he should have had more recognition.

That's funny, kind of... (sorry for that! ;-) ). Back in the 80s, everyone I knew (and their dogs, too) seemed to be aware that Gary Moore was a top notch guitar virtuoso - and when he finally released that blues album, all these people say: what's that? Gary Moore playing "just" blues? He undersells... ;-) None of us would have anticipated that "Still got the Blues" would turn out to be such a great success - and most people would think of GM to be a blues guitarist from then on. We even felt that the title track was something like a re-hash of older GM ballads, like Parisienne Walkways etc. That said, it's a great album, and I still have fond memories of cruising in a friends old car back in 1991 and play songs like "Too Tired" at top volume! :-D RIP, Gary - and actually, as I just learned, RIP Jon, too... :-/

As a child of about 10 in the early 90s I would go through my dad's eclectic collection of vinyl records and play them on my record player in my bedroom. I remember picking up Wardance because I liked the album cover. At that age the names Moore, Mole, Airey and Hiseman didnt mean anything to me. Suffice to say, almost 30 years on, I'm still in awe. Sounds much better on my car stereo now than on my 10 watt bedroom HiFi back in the 90s.

Ian Gregson of course, Phil Lynott and Gary Moore were really good mates, despite falling in and out over the years. Gary stayed in a house with Phil when he left home in Belfast aged 16, to come to Dublin to join Skid Row A few months after that, Brush Shiels sacked Phil, who went on to form Thin Lizzy. Skid Row and TL moved to London around the same time, and there would have been a lot of contact between the two
