Thank you. Perhaps I'm a woman who has learned her colours and how they help her accept and present herself. We all have those changes we're still trying to make after all these years (grow out my bangs, wear more light coloured tops), what's changed may be that I know how I'm going to go about it.

Your knowledge and ability to dissect the specific colors so accurately and how they are working in conjunction with the shapes is nothing short of astonishing. Fascinating to see how a persons specific features can effect how good they look with certain colors. I would imagine Rihanna would look less beautiful repeating the same color for eyes/blush/lip. The whole thing, even in the perfect color, would not honor the dynamic quality of her features. Mixing up those antique metal colors, wearing them together, is a great tip for people who fall in those liminal seasons or who have a more lively personality but softer coloring. You are amazing as always, thank you for sharing these insights with us.

Thank you. I am astonished in turn, both by your powers of observation and your ability to combine what you see into a next level interpretation of a person's energy. A painter could use the same colours to make a quiet painting or a livelier one and as you say, choosing clothing is the same way. People in the same Season are still so individual and maybe this is where some of the doubt about colour analysis comes in, understandably so, when they see their Season as rigid, cookie cutter patterns of how to look. You're really good at the second and third order application of colour.

I’m so glad you’re here. Today’s topic may be the most requested person to date. Rihanna surprised me with her colour reactions (they all do, it’s becoming a pattern), and how her colours and styles had different energy. In the three colours I loved at the end, the styles seemed like wearing blankets. Great colour can improve our perception of style (not sure the reverse is true), but style is a huge part of dressing well. I’d love to know your thoughts and if there were any colours and-or styles you found great. Thanks for watching!

I’m a fan of Rihanna, but hardly any other celebrity. I was quite interested to see what Christine would think because it’s true-Rihanna does have a fantastic eye for fashion and beauty and is far more involved in her styling than most stars. So I was amused when she commented on all these very Rihanna touches-those mixed metals, the oversized stylish outfits, the impeccable makeup. It’s so much fun when Christine admires things, it’s very uplifting somehow. You can tell it’s such a passion for her

She is 100000% a deep winter. Despite her warm overtone, she has a cool undertone as you see her skin is bright and healthy looking with Plums, Deep reds, some pinks and blues... just stunning, and silver compliments her complexion the most. She also suits many reds, black and white which only winters can pull off. Winter through and through.

@ChristineScaman
@ChristineScaman 3 жыл бұрын
I've looked at Britney a few times. Although I don't do these videos with an aim to figuring out their Season, which I'd find impossible, I try to get a sense of how their clothing colours react to them as real people rather than marketed products. When hair is bleached and dyed, everything is influenced by the hair and much as I try not to, the comments become repetitively about how the clothes and hair react. Blonde is the hardest of all, it's almost a fantasy colour, nobody has solid yellow hair the colour of corn by nature. With the celebs I look at, I try to choose the majority of the images with a real or possible hair colour (couldn't with Elvis). Britney's interesting and I appreciate the suggestion because I see where the idea comes from that she could be Bright or a softer Season. Unlike Marilyn Monroe, despite the dye and poor image quality, would have more consistency as a Bright.

No offense but I think this video is eugenics. Rihanna is clearly a cool tone either soft summer or winter deep/bright. She looks good in white, black, diamond, silver and especially icy colours brightened up her skin. She looks stunning in black hair and olive is her worst tone. Just because she has green eyes doesn’t mean she’s a warm tone.
@ChristineScaman

In every video, I hope that I mention that I can't tell Season from images and that what anybody sees as 'looks good' is their choice. Maybe some folks can identify Season from pictures but I can only access the information I need for those decisions in person, no other way. Picture don't come close. As far as what Rihanna looks good in, you could ask 20 people and get 20 answers, and that's fair, we're influenced by all sorts of factors (all of which are taken out of the analysis process). What doesn't feel fair is the association with eugenics. Planned breeding and racial improvement are not only biologically and morally wrong, they're disgusting. I would never choose to be offended by another person's opinions, those are yours to have, but I don't agree. Even the suggestion that colour analysis is only for white people is powerfully wrong, but I choose to believe that it comes from not knowing. It wasn't true in the past and it's not true now. The physics of light and the biology of humans are the same with any skin colour. We all have the same hemoglobin and we all stand under the same sun. How colour behaves in Nature and how humans see colour is all the same too, and hasn't changed for millennia. I see colour as unifying, equalizing, and acknowledging that we do have differences that can be celebrated. If that were not true, I couldn't get away from this business fast enough or far enough. Cultural ways of dressing and what humans think colour represents in skin tone are real, but they're inventions of humans looking for meaning, unknowing, imagination, and its shadow side, fear. Agree green eyes isn't a warm tone, I mean I have green eyes and I'm cooler than warm. I thank you for speaking your mind and hope you'll be here to do so more often. Direct speech is the best way to help us get where we're both coming from, and so valuable that I will never be offended by it. I might not understand or agree but I hope we can talk it out :)

@@ChristineScaman sorry for my mistake for implying everything is eugenics but whenever I see videos about poc colour analysis they automatically label as winter or autumn tone which is not true. I guess Eurocentric would be a better term tbh. For example I thought was a winter bright/deep or soft autumn tone based on the description but when I went to Korea and did a personal colour analysis there turns out I’m a summer mute. For reference I’m a tan Asian woman who gets mistaken as a warm tone.

@@1998-c3q Thank you for clarifying, I understand now what you were saying and I agree. On the surface, colour analysis can look very Caucasian and maybe it used to be in the 70s, but even then, there were people working who saw the application to all people and how Season went far beyond surface skin tone. I joined the industry in 2009 and I've discovered a few things as I've met people. One is that there's so much interest around the world and the industry is quite active in many places, all over EU, S. Am., and Asia, as you found. We might not see a lot of the examples but they're happening. Second thing, more and more young people are participating, as analysts and clients, which is a great thing. Third, the social sites are here. Back when I started, there was barely Pinterest, if any. People were still nervous of being photographed so all the public got to see was what it knew already, a Caucasian-dominated hobby. Over time, these will help fade the notions that it's only for and about white people. I couldn't stand being part of that. There's one real problem though and not gonna lie, IDK how to solve it except to let it run its course. It's exactly what you experienced. Widely different analysis processes that might factor in surface skin colour, which I'm not in agreement with because there are better methods, and widely different ways of deciding what's beautiful, which also has to be removed from the Season decision. Those automatic labels that you describe are so widespread and people buy into them. They're based in stereotypes and grouping people into those stereotypes rather than seeing individuals and how they react to colour. I could talk about this a long time and I thank you for having the conversation with me. Maybe you're familiar with our community's analyst in Florida, Michelle Boni? Her website is at moonoverstar.com. Your description of yourself and experience with your own Seasons reminded me a lot of Michelle, you may find similarities if you read her story. She also had a PCA when in Korea, same muted Season identified, but how? or why? I don't know how they get to those Seasons so I can't comment on the process but my eyes don't find that the most beautiful Michelle. LMK what you think if you look her up. Her journey is here: moonoverstar.com/One-Analyst-Two-Faces Also, what 'poc colour analysis'? I'm not familiar with that term.

I respect you for speaking your mind. A lot of people would walk away with a negative judgment, without hearing the other person’s point of view. And I agree with you about being tired of negative commentary, which is why I only feature men and the great looks at award shows these days. There’s a middle ground. How do we help people understand an idea by showing them only the positive? They create a stronger mental framework if they can see both sides. If we imagine Rihanna as a person in our lives without the fame, wealth, and accomplishment, someone we’d speak to naturally and honestly, she’s like everyone else. Some colours look better on her than others based on her own colours, and it’s hard to figure them out without an objective system. That’s what colour analysis is all about, an objective way of knowing your own colours, minus the drama, emotion, marketing, judgment, and all the rest. To thine own self be true. Know your own colours so all those other voices can’t get to you, for Rihanna as much as the rest of us. People in Athens, Oslo, Dallas, and Newfoundland don’t aspire to look the same, but they may have the same natural colours and how we identify them is the same. You may made have your decision about how colour analysis works, but for any new viewers reading our conversation, I promise you that wealth, great beauty, or achievement don’t mean a person is making their best colour choices. Light, medium, or dark skin tone is not part of a correct colour analysis process. Skin tone is variable in all 12 groups of colouring. Rihanna is a phenomenal talent who works incredibly hard and has done so much to make beauty democratic for all people. I truly admire her. That can be true at the same time as saying skin tone, age, weight, gender, or any of the other ways people use to judge others, are unrelated to looking our best. Colour analysis is for all people everywhere at every budget who want to know their natural colours. If it weren’t, I wouldn’t do it. I sincerely appreciate your comment and being open-minded enough to post it here where I can reply :)

@@ChristineScaman Thank you for responding to my comment so eloquently. However, I’m not referring to your professional opinion about her colors, rather I’m speaking about the difference in how you’ve poured negative descriptions for black women versus the basic description for other women. I certainly wouldn’t make such a difficult but honest statement to another woman on her platform, unless it was important. Perhaps, if you asked a friend to listen to the video, they may hear what I do. They will need to think of black peoples in a positive way to hear it. It’s the not-so-subtle disdain for a black person that’s easily detectable for me. Again, thank you for responding.
