It enlarges colour molecules in hair dye so that it can slide off the hair follicles. It's the same reason red hair dye fades so quickly, because the molecules are large so slip off the follicle.
@ydualcover51544 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on your hair type... I'm have straight but still thick hair (even so it's not as thick as before since I bleached it), and I did a red when I was younger, by a hairdresser, and I remember the dye fading REEEEEALLY fast, but during lockdown i did a Burgundy, and the length (which obviously are very porous) fade like with a normal fade, but just after my light brown roots, the a red band is still here after 4 month of trying to strip it... 😭

It depends if the red colour that you had on was just a colour deposit only or if it had any lifting agent in it. The reason it went the colour it did was because all the hair dyes that I use have a lifting agent in them to get the colour to come through. I hope that helps xx

Great video! I dyed my hair a month ago and it went a little too red/warm toned. I have used this remover before and always been super impressed with it, but I've never tried to take out red before. Continually impressed with this remover! And you're right - some removers are just a bleach in disguise (I'm looking at you, Colour Oops)... I love Colour B4 because it doesn't touch your roots and isn't as harmful as bleach. I just wanted to say too, that colour you stripped was a stunning red. Did you find it hard to keep up or did it seem to stay in place well? I did a similar box red ages ago and it faded badly each time.

I've tried a colourless hair colour remover to remove stubborn cherry red and brown dyes in my hair. My hair is a natural dark chestnut brown but after the colourless remover, it's gone a light copper/toffee blonde. I didn't expect the colour of my hair to go there. How do I get it back to my more natural brown? Do I need to dye it brown or would another box of colour remover help bring the natural brown back? :)
@SlimOnTheInside4 жыл бұрын
I'm not a hairdresser but my guess is that the cherry red you used had a lightener in it which lightened your hair (the same way bleach does) you can't bring your colour back to this hair. The only way to put it back to your own colour is to use another dye or wait until it grows out.

I have a few semi permenant cherry red and plum dyes in my hair but really want to go back to my natural colour which is a mouse brown with blonde streaks. I have been doing the auti dandruff shampoo and vitimin C method but still have so much brassy colour in my hair. If I use this do you think I could go back to my natural colour? Do you know what kind of lightener they put in box dyes? I have looked up the one I used (loreal casting creme gloss) but cant see anything about bleach/lightener. Any help would be appreciated!!
@SlimOnTheInside4 жыл бұрын
Hi Georgia. What I have found is that when you put these semi permanent dyes on your hair they have some kind of lightener, probably 20 or 30 vol so even if you strip your colour out, you won't go back to your natural colour because it's been lightened. This stripper removed all of my semi permanent colour but left it very brassy. What you could do is try putting a dark blonde toner on it. I'm not a hairdresser so my advise is just based on my experience rather than actual hair knowledge. There is a channel called "life of hair" he has loads of videos and is very helpful and usually replies to comments. You could try asking him as he is a "proper" hairdresser lol x

I'm not a hairdresser but if it is bright red then it must be bleached underneath the colour (unless your natural colour is light brown/blond). I think the only thing you can do is put a black hair dye over the top, surely that will make it black? (again I am not a hairdresser)
@SlimOnTheInside4 жыл бұрын

@@kessa.x7407 you will probably find you need to keep dying it as the bleach will probably keep showing through after time x
@amandamartin83544 жыл бұрын
Hi Kessa, hope you don't mind me butting in. I'm also not a hairdresser but I've been all over the colour spectrum, including bleached hair and black hair. If you're going darker, you may not need to use a colour remover at all. When you bleach, you're exposing underlying pigments. Think of the orange hair most people get after bleaching. Let's say, you managed to bleach down to a level 10 blonde which is the lightest blonde. Underlying pigment is a pale yellow. If you were to go dark, from there, like even to a brown colour, your hair will dye a swampy green. This is because of the colour combinations are used to create that colour and it's missing the underlying pigments to support the tone. When a hairdresser assists the client to go darker, they do what's called pre-filling the hair, which is putting back in that underlying pigment. This can easily be done with a semi permanent or demi. For black hair, you want red! So if you already have red hair, don't remove that, you want the red. If you put a black over that, it will come out richer. Make sure you use a colour that is a warmer toned black (nothing with blue tint, not yet). Your first black dye is your base and it will probably fade a bit, but you want to stick to a warmer tone because of colour theory. I hope this helps / isn't too late! Keep the red!
