Good for you who bought them early. For the young ones or those that are just able to enjoy their money now, luxury brands are just unattainable. No matter how much we tell ourselves "there are good alternatives these days" wall all know we're after the BRAND.

If you ever do buy a diamond (or other gemstone) ring, a local jeweler is probably a good way to go. Another option is to consider vintage jewelry. There is no need for a luxury brand, or luxury brand prices. (Also, the diamond doesn't need to be big. I think the small diamond rings are absolutely beautiful, and I like them better than the big stones.)

You're lucky you have them before the crazy price increases. I collected late and I wished I bought a classic medium while it was still 6k in Europe. But all in all, I got a lot of LV items while we were there that I really use all year round. I have slowed down and I'm happy with what I have. Looking and dreaming for classic Flaps and Birkins are just for my fantasy self😂.

I like the cute coat you are wearing with your channel flap bag in this video. May I ask where I can purchase the coat

I’ve never wanted any jewelry from Cartier, Tiffany, Vancleef and Arpel or any of the other luxury brands. I do think they’re overpriced and for the money I have much nicer jewelry from local stores. I do have some nice luxury bags but they’re within a budget I feel comfortable with. I have thought of buying a Chanel bag but I agree with you that I don’t think the quality is worth the price. I’m not against buy more bags but as always I am very mindful of my purchases.

Now that I had it and used it and loved it and I got bored of it, I am going to make a video about how I won’t buy what I already own 🤦🏻♀️

Correct!! You are totally in good mindset to tell your husband not to bought any diamond engagement.. instead a house and lot for the family... l salute you with this mindset.. as it is so practical..unlike this era.. they made a lot of loans just to get a piece of ring but not thinking about the family they are going to build without a permanent house

By definition you won't need to buy classic luxury items often because they're classic and therefore not needing to be replaced according to trends. But if the items don't last because of quality issues then you won't want to rebuy especially as inflation makes them ridiculous. I think a lot of people have reached breaking point with some brands. And that's a serious issue, for the brands themselves. Trust gets broken? That's not easily remedied.

Thank you Eileen for making these lovely videos! In today's world, the most challenging thing to do is to be 'content' with what we have. Corporate capitalism is always in our face with the newest shiny merchandise making us feel what we have is never good enough. We are constantly shown that we need a better phone, a better laptop, a nicer dress, bigger diamonds.......the cycle of 'new and latest' is never-ending. In this mad race, it takes a lot to stay calm and happy. I'm glad there are people like you who are sharing this positivity! ❤❤❤

Hey Eileen, I hope you see this because I am truly inspired by your journey. I too, feel very "trapped" in consumerism; it feels like I need to get rid of the poison, and every time I watch your videos, it's like a breath of fresh air. You mentioned that you read a lot of personal finance books in your previous videos, would you kindly share your favourites? I really trust your book recommendations! Thank you!

When I carry a fake or knockoff bag *preluxz* , I feel proud because I know I didn't spend unnecessary money and I can dress up and proudly support my family at the same time. As for the owners of designer brands, there is no need to support them because they have everything. This is how I see it.

I refuse to buy Chanel in the 80s and have never looked back. Now especially the money vs quality equation is out of control. Van Cleef Alhambra is very tired. They are ok but they are alot. Plain diamond rings are something you get from a good jeweler. You will get more for your money. Also your husband was wise to listen to you and put the money to the house. I can't imagine a designer suitcase. They are so expensive and so prone to be thrown about and abused, its a lot of money on the line.

I agree 100%. I refuse to buy a luxury suitcase for sure. That's just completely unnecessary.

But people don't necessarily "care" if people own a luxury item, in fact, there is a reason why people have the money to buy luxury items and invest in them. Quality, quantity, and of course buying luxury items as exclusive products. Because if I had the money, I would enjoy fashion and own brands, etc. *preluxz*

May I ask what’s the brand of the black suitcase?
@Ellie-es4ms5 сағат бұрын
And yet you can justify a Hermes bag that is a just a simple tote that doesn’t cost fire than 500 dollars to make 🤔
@streetmoney213 сағат бұрын
These items you discussed are not exclusive luxury items. They are highly replicated which has diminished status. You can get them anywhere. And the message they convey to the public is one of being thirsty for public validation. These brands just take advantage of you as you are buying their low end high volume products that cost them very little to make and not the high end extremely expensive exclusive pieces with next to no branding that are extremely hard to get. In fact, they wouldn’t even offer them to you because you don’t fit the model. Those low end items do not convey your status in life. They just reflect what you are chasing and how you spend your cash. You made the right decision to stop the insanity. It’s just an illusion.

In fact a friend of mine who works at Neiman Marcus said that rich people buy athleisure while the middle class wear Louis Vuitton or Gucci head to toe! Rich people don’t do that! *preluxz*
