Love what you're doing. Only one thing missing is a bit of depth to the wood to make it dimentional not just flat. Boards have a thickness to them. Would love to see you take it from 2D to 3D. Totally enjoy watching your videos. I used to draw and paint and do pastels, then life took over. You and Johanna Basford have sparked that desire in me again. Just want to say Thanks!

+Mama Ren True. If this was for one of my own artworks I would have taken more time with it but I think it works well enough for a colouring book. I wanted to keep it at a level that most people would be able to attempt and be reasonably happy with what they produced. I'm glad that you have got your mojo back for art. I don't think it ever really leaves you, just goes into hibernation sometimes.

You are incredibly talented and I SO appreciate that you share with all of us. I know you made it look easy, but I imagine it won't go so easy for me. . .lol! However, with practice maybe I can make something acceptable. Please do keep doing videos when you can, I will do my best to try to add something to your Patreon when I can afford to because I do appreciate what you share. God bless you!

Peta, i don't have a clue how to do trees, scrubby areas, & shrubs in the background, so that they don't just look like a blob of green. Have you ever done a video tutorial on anything like that? Please consider it because i know a lot of people that don't know how to do it either. As always, Peta, i love your videos & this was exceptional. Take care.

A dollar store blusher brush is really good for flicking off rubber residue or broken pencil leads or dust. Less chance of smudging the paper. At least, that is what I've recently discovered.

+O2BSoLucky Good idea. I'm going to try that.

Thank you for the awesome tutorial. What do you think of pastel pencils? I was thinking about buying a set of Stabilo Carbothello and wondered if you had any experience with using them
@PetaHewitt8 жыл бұрын
+Amanda Jackson i actually have a set of these... they're about 30 years old though. (I'm a bit of a magpie when it comes to art stuff). I ooved them but i haven't tried them in colouring books. I will have to test them out.

Peta, you're an amazing artist! What is your art background?
@PetaHewitt9 жыл бұрын
+Sylvia Catalano Pretty much self taught. Art is a hobby for me. i have a web comic that is currently on hiatus and I occassionally accept comissions for portraits or fantasy art but that is about it. I have a deviantart account under the name of Chaypeta if you are interested in my original work.

Hi PetaReally great video, I have not used pastels, I was wandering do they stay on the paper OK like the polycromo pencils, or are they like chalk? and smudge and transfer to the next page when the book is closed, hope you understand what I meanThank You Ron Jones
@PetaHewitt9 жыл бұрын
+Ron Jones Hi Ron. Unfortunately pastels do tend to smear and rub off until they are 'fixed' with a fixative spray. You can buy the sprays from any craft or art store.

+Sandra Gallant-Crabtree Do you mean using a prismacolor pencil instead of a polychromos? I think so, any good quality student or artist pencil should do.
