The 4.25" Anaconda is a beautiful revolver that is very well balanced for it's size and caliber. A very good option for a woods gun, especially if you live in an area that has Mountain Lions or Bears hanging around.

The wood grips on the 4 inch Anaconda just sold me on this handgun. Been looking for a 44 and am not willing to pay scalper prices for a vintage Model 29, especially with how they wear down quickly firing full magnum loads. The 4 inch on this seems perfect. I have a 6 inch 586 and I find a full lug 6 inch gun too front heavy.

I had the older Anaconda until somebody made me an offer I couldn’t refuse and it had the Hogue grips on it. With magnum loads the gun was trying to jump out of my hands I would have thought the wood grips would give you even less recoil control. They look real cool though. If I bought a new Anaconda and carried it for possible social work I would either load it with real mild magnum hollow points or hotter loaded 44 special HP’s. Years ago I also owned a S&W 629 6-1/2” barrel Power Port (compensated) which is no longer in production. That gun was much easier and pleasant to shoot. Edit: My boss back in the 1990’s had a 44 magnum pretty sure it was S&W and think it had a 10-5/8” inch barrel. It was so front heavy holding it on target was a challenge but it sure tamed the recoil.

I carry the 4" S&W Model 57 .41 Magnum Mountain Gun in the Craft Roto Shoulder Holster for my Fall and Winter CCW. The 57 Mtn Gun was my last "Unobtainium Unicorn" gun and I found it NIB in January, leaving one unicorn left. The 4.25 Python. But now I'm thinking the 4.25 Anaconda.......thanks! Thanks a lot. LOL Spring and Summer CCW is between the S&W Model 19-3 2.5" or the M&P 2.0 9mm 4" I'm 61 and the Colt vented rib make those two guns beyond beautiful. I just wish they would put them out blued like the first time I fell in love with the looks of the Python. Been a S&W revolver guy my entire life but always wanted the 4" Python. Nice review. Thanks!

Been thinking of getting myself a revolver specifically for my hikes, camping, backpacking and it’s been between this Anaconda 4.25 or the 3inch Python. Just want something that has the power to take down a predator and just a blast to shoot at the range also.

I had a 6" and just never got comfortable with it. Sold it and got the 4.25" (bead blast finish) and its like a different world. Better balance, quicker back on target, and if you use one, clears the holster quicker. Recoil with specials is negligible, with magnums its hefty but not much more than the longer barrel and the maneuverability is worth it. good video and review

The Colt Anaconda has been a Grail Gun of mine for 30 years. I just picked up a 4.25-inch Anaconda yesterday, after watching Kamala certify Trump's victory. I figured it was a pretty good way to start this year off right. I got the 4.25-inch for all the reasons mentioned; it has the best balance of pack-ability and performance. But aside from that, the Colt Anaconda checks all the boxes. It is well made, looks good, and feels good. I spend a lot of time in bear country, but I am not convinced this isn't an option for street carry as well. I was never a fan of the mouse guns. My other carry gun is a Glock 20. Yeah, I love me some 10mm, too! Of course, that means I am a fan of Double Tap Ammunition, and of Mike McNet.
@rangehotКүн бұрын
@MTMILITIAMAN7.62 I watched that on TV as well and it was epic. You picked an excellent way to celebrate. I agree the Anaconda can be an EDC for sure, especially with some Doubletap. 44 Special.

Your content was very enjoyable! I liked and subscribed. I'm adding your podcast to my "go-to's" for guns (Hickock-45, etc.). You obviously know what you're talking about! I'm a "Smith revolver" guy, but I've always wanted a Python, but I've seen videos that rave about the Anaconda '44 compared to the Smith M-29 and the Anaconda walked away from the Smith in quality! I can't get over that Smith "internal lock" especially on the Performance Center guns. I'm trying to consolodate my ammo to just .357 and .308, but jeez, that Anaconda is just to cool and a must have! As far as quality goes, in your opinion, does the Python rival the Anaconda for fit and finish? I'll be checking out more of your podcasts! Keep up the great work!
@rangehot10 ай бұрын
Thank you very much. I appreciate your kind words and welcome aboard. As far as that S&W internal lock I am with you. That is ridiculous. In my opinion the Python and Anaconda are very similar in quality and finish. I have shot several examples of both and they were all excellent. With that said, I think I prefer the Anaconda just because I really like the .44 Magnum/.44 Special.

Hey Hunter, is the actual trigger shoe a smidge different on the Anaconda vs Python? I've not seen an Anaconda in person but on video it looks a little different. Outside the rear sight, only complaint I've ever experienced w/the Python is the trigger felt squared off. When shot a bunch, from the first joint forward on my trigger finger at least, a nerve got squirrely and didn't feel the best. I've heard others experiencing the same...certainly not everyone, but enough I don't feel alone in the world. Just wondering if the Anaconda trigger is a bit wider or more comfortable as compared to the Python? If yes, it may be better for us boney handed folks and I'd be interested in calling Colt to see if that's a swappable part. Anyway, beautiful revolver, excellent review, Thanks & God Bless.
