TO add on to what Axle Red said, Gabe Sapolsky of ROH talked up Punk to heyman and heyman saw the goldmine that was in Punk. Punk said it himself that heyman helped him passed the landmines(his words) and he made it through to the main roster. When he flourished a bit in ECW he took off a bit as well and the rest is history.
