I used to work with a young guitarist who has every guitar he's ever owned since he was about 10. Dozens of them. he could not understand why one day I got rid of 6 guitars and basses I had just tossed into a closet. I'm like Colt. It's a tool. It either does a job or it's gone. All my gear, software etc - just tools. If it's not being used regularly it's gone and replaced with a tool that I will use. Or maybe a nice dinner with my wife. So hammer away! Beat those guitars up!

I’m cringing so hard. Taking care of your instrument is not super difficult and the costs of repairs and preventable work done if not maintained isn’t something I can afford.
