Instead of all the alternation, put a couple sheets of the solid glass on the outsides with plexiglass between them and maybe one or two sheets of the solid glass in the center. You want hard sheets on the outside to absorb the initial impact and break up the projectile then the softer stuff behind it to catch and hold the fragments.

I'm not sure that you want such a good mechanical bond between the layers. The lexan is doing its job by flexing, but if it transmits all of its energy to the next panes of glass before the bullet even arrives, then the benefit of a flexible layer is greatly decreased. I would think that a tempered glass panes bonded to EXACTLY ONE pane of lexan behind it with those composite units separated by foam spacers might do better.

It may help with the multiple shot durability if you build some kind of frame, where the panels perfectly fit inside. This way you could equally pressure the panels together and after the glue dries keep the pressure on around the sides with a ~1.5 inch wide piece of wood running around the edges of the glass. This should help keeping the glass between the plexiglass around the sides. Also the less glue the better, the more pressure while glueing the better, and maybe use epoxy glue

so i'm in the middle of a war movie, and the SEAL shot through a basket of apples, and it exploded as if it were glass, could you please test this out the SEAL used an M4 please like so he can see this, im very curious to see what will happen
@matthewgladden16354 жыл бұрын
