I remember back in the 90's picking up a box of 30-06 shells loaded with a normal powder charge and a .223 bullet in a sabot, they didnt perform particularly well since it was next to impossible to hit anything with them because they would start tumbling as soon as they left the barrel, you could tell because they made this terrifying buzzing noise, always compared it to a pissed off bee if it were the size of a cat, in closing hybrid rounds are fun just rarely useful for anything other than pure entertainment. 👍

@@jalenwilliams8622 I wish I could remember if there was a manufacturer name on the box, but this was about 30 years ago and my memory isn't that great, I just remember I came across them in a booth at the gun show where the guy had a bunch of novelty type rounds, like the shotgun shells with the tiny darts or the rubber bbs, think I picked up some "exploding" .22 shells there too which were also pretty disappointing, they were basically 22 hollow points with something in the hole that would kinda spark if you shot something hard like a cinder block

You should do a collaboration with Ballistic High Speed to see in super slow motion what is actually happening with the home made shells and bullets

I think of Matt like my favorite Nephew and not a cool uncle. Dude’s definitely one of my favorite channels on KZbin ever since I found it almost six or seven years ago. And yes, for the love of god, treat every gun like it’s loaded and make sure of what’s behind your target. Now I’m about to enjoy some old school home made rounds

When I worked at Cigar City Gun Club, a skeet & trap field, in the early 70s, it was commonly known that if you leave the wad out of a shell so that the powder and shot mix you can blow up your gun. I never saw that happen but I did see a nice break-action trap gun blow up from a triple-loaded shell, though. I wonder what would happen if you filled a shell with acetylene? C4 might work!

First the intro is incredible funny and well done, as always! (The giggle behind the camera makes it even more perfect 😂)But following that with a custom -shotgun shell- round video? Damn that is some throwback to the good old times and I love it!! 👌❤

I suppose if you want to ensure the primer fires on the inserted round you can use a little blue-tack to hold a birdshot ball in place, so when the powder ignites, the birdshot strikes the primer while in the barrel.

these kind of videos would be amazing with some highend highspeed cameras to really see what comes out the barrel and what actually happens once out the barrel.

The 308 with the lead removed, I'd have liked to see that go through a chronograph & a speed comparison to a normal bullet.

For the gun to explode you need to put a 308 bullet that is way over charged meaning it has to be putting out over 100,000psi over energy. That's how you can blow the gun. Remember what happened to Scott's 50bmg when he shot a slap round at a fire hydrant and caused the gun to explode? Because it was a super spicy round. Normal operating pressures for a 50bmg is 55,000psi the round that gave Scott a near death experience was putting out more than 180,000psi of energy.
