So I've got a 2018 F150 that should be running carplay but it won't pop up, it only goes through the "allow carplay" screen. I've tried different wires and even replaced the usb hub and still the same issue. Do you think this might bypass and fix that issue or do you think I'm going to have to replace my APIM?

If you put auto agent app on the box, no you don’t have to use a phone. On the box you log in to your EZLYNK account, when you hook up box, go to Wi-Fi connect to EZLYNK as you would on phone, open app and your set.
