Hey I am living in Columbia Mo! :) We call it the midwest, but looking at a map you’ll notice that it’s more east than west. It made me wonder why we call it the Midwest, but then I realized that we are mostly a red state, and I can’t imagine those folks wanting to call it the Mideast.

The Missouri School for the Deaf is not in Columbia, it's in Fulton. The Missouri School for the Blind is also not in Columbia, it's in St. Louis. Also, the Missouri Military Academy is located in Mexico Missouri, not Columbia. Might want to check your facts on Columbia

The downside is the homeless population has increased the amount of aggressive panhandling and rude reactions to being told no. They will insult you, and threaten you. Especially at supermarkets and public library. Most public bathrooms are ruined by them.
