Fall Chinook Salmon Fishing on the Columbia River. The Hot Tamale Superbait proved to be productive on an otherwise slow day. Fishing with David Pyle.

HELLO David, it's been a while... LOL. Did you ever see the first fish that came unbuttoned??? That as a " H O T " one, and as soon as it saw the boat/net it was peeled 50 yards in five seconds!!! Very E X C I T I N G!!! Tight lines My Friend...

Another great video David! When I see that reel shake from side to side while a rookie angler is reeling up a fish I wish they'd at least throw a thumb up on that reel for some stability. Might it be because their hands are just too small or they just have bad technique? Maybe give the folks a few reeling up pointers before they step up to the plate? Good to see you out there getting it done David. Fish on!

I agree that there's less leverage holding the rod this way but I respect their choice in how they want to hold the rod. I had suggested holding the rod above the reel earlier in the trip.

Gotta help these newbie s to put their non reeling hand on the cork above the real alot more control and less pain on the wrist and arm

Although that is not my preffered place to hold the rod, I thought she did a really good job of managing both fish. She kept pressure on the fish at all times and recovered line when the fish ran at the boat. For a newbie, I give her an "A".

@@DavidPyle oh she totally did, but have been less of a struggle, not to mention it will save you a expensive rod from going to the bottom😊

Why r u leaving the clickers on. Very annoying on video ! 😜
@DavidPyle2 жыл бұрын
Sorry about the annoying clicker but there's a purpose for leaving it on. It allows me to determine if a correction needs to be made to the drag. I ask my passengers not to adjust. I agree, it's not something I want to hear.

Dude, Have her hold the pole in front of the reel plus take the reel clicker off while playing the fish.

Stop cringing and let her learn for herself. She’s not a kid.

Woody, thank you for your comments. I thought she did a fantastic job with both fish. Even had the presense of mind to spin fast when the fish ran toward the boat.
