Mate they did the same thing with Mash martinis and medicine boxset and with out fail the disc's are scratched cus they sit on top each other - i bought like four copies and returned them all cus I keep trying to find the older set (luckily I did on ebay but there was like one as it was donated)

I just bought the entire series on Blu-ray, only available in Japan. When I inquired with them, they said they didn't ship to Canada (which is where I am), so I decided to go ahead and try to order it from them anyway. When I finally clicked it through checkout, it went through! So, their customer service was wrong! It's pricey but looks great, and everything is laid out nice and neat, as far as the discs and everything goes. Columbo is so great (and the quality is so good) that I didn't mind spending the money.

Is that set that you have remastered? Is it 1080p or what? Thanks so much if you can answer this, because I really want to buy a Columbo set but I know they have a remastered version but I don’t know which is which! Cheers

I bought the French set around 12/13 years ago - nice box, each season in its own cardboard box and individual cases. On screen titles are in French and so are the episode descriptions on the inlay which is a pain. English audio. Loads of series are repackaged - generally speaking the smaller sets are cheaper - but I much prefer the bigger ones. You can still buy the older sets used.

You have that problem w/that Universal release of Columbo-- I've had it with several all-in-one DVDs in Region 1 (my area) from CBS Home Entertainment, like The Untouchables, Have Gun Will Travel and The Streets of San Francisco (discs stacked on mini-spindles in individual leaflets); mine, however (The Untouchables does not, though) at least have episode titles on the front of the discs, and as such, that is sheer laziness on Universal's part for them to make you have to look up an episode guide if you want to see a specific episode (IMO).

Yep. That's f**ked up. I have a set similar to the one you gave your dad ~ a cigar box of slim cases, two DVDs per case with the episode names and descriptions on each case. And that neat Columbo booklet too. It even has a ribbon to go underneath a stack of cases for easy removal. You got hosed, man.

Yeah its got all the episodes on the back of the individual slim dvd boxes !! The sort of thing you might expect from a huge company putting together a complete series of dvds haha
