In 1953, an early Adena culture earthwork was excavated by archaeologists from the Ohio Historical Society before being demolished by the Dominion Land Co. to make way for a housing development. Decades later, residents and historians reflect.

The Ohio History Connection, according to a ProPublica study, has been in direct violation of NAGPRA for decades. They are considered one of the worst violators of NAGRPRA and that has not changed. - Philip Yenyo Executive Director American Indian Movement of Ohio

We cant find the one at the end of Rathbone Rd. My sister lives at the end and we have looked for it many times. It may have been excavated as there has been a lot of construction in the area.

I grew up around remnants of these mounds in New Castle Indiana. Some are still preserved but while working at the local historical society I realized the Vast majority were not. Sad ... so much lost knowledge.

I'd like to see more stories from the OHC archives like this. Great researchers there. Also, I'm a little surprised by the comments on anything related to the Mounds. I've studied a lot of fringe research over the years, and liked a lot of it, but most of it is just a good story. Anthropology/Archeology doesn't have all the answers, but it does serve a purpose; to interpret the physical evidence found. I guarantee if you study the early excavations notes for a couple years, you will come from a more grounded place. I concede the 7' - 8'6" skeletons are extremely interesting...

I think the giants is an old fad that’s come back into style because Bigfoot is not cool anymore.. a lot of people are fried and think the government is hiding the nephalim and fringe religious morons believe in it… we know that the natives were big and strong they found big bodies but not giants.. there’s no bones anywhere of a Giant proven.. but the real mystery is the Adena we also have no clue who built those mounds or when we found these artifacts but they could be from after the mound builders have been wiped out.. look at the Maumee River head that was found after a flood in 1959. This was a real story and is pictured and was studied they have no clue where this old stone head came from it’s unlike anything found. Everything got fricken liquified so it’s all underground… most of these mounds have not been escalated and the ones they do they always find different things one had a huge stone room under it… I would dig them allllll up… what is more important keeping old mounds in tact that we’ve been destroying and using for stone for centuries or if we find a lost older civilization under the mounds

There are a lot of similarities between these mounds and stone age/bronze age burial sites in the UK. So much so that it weirds me out a little.

Lord Albrus the Adena people showed up in North America right after the Beaker people disappeared in the British isles, and made pottery similar to them. I bet it’s the same people.

that woman saying the area would have been great to live in must not have been through a winter here. Indians that lived north of Columbus had a better idea. The year around temperatures are found in caves. Wyandotte Indians lived in the Olentangy Caverns. year around sweater weather. kinda like san fransisco.

Most if not ALL of these mounds had LARGE human bones buried in them. My family owned a farm at turn of century Ohio. My great aunts & uncles remembered playing on them & collecting Indian artifacts ..when the men from the Smithsonian came to ("excavate") they dug , stole , made a mess of , & took ALL things that were found in the dirt & left the mounds in ruins. My g grandparents eventually just plowed over for farmland. We still have several of the artifacts found on our land. The property has been split 4 ways in the last 30 years to family members & we all still manage to find things from time to time..& would NEVER report to the thieving world of museums!

oh, and that is why you can't prove any of what you said. no, there were not large bones in them. I grew up in central ohio and had 3 relatives with farms. finding arrowheads was cool and stone tools, but not large bones.

I would be interested because they really don’t know how long ago they were made… Adena could’ve came and buried there on a site that existed before of more advanced astronomy heavy civilization. They were build to be seen from sky. Also bones and artifacts found but they aren’t sure what they even were because most of them have no bodies and some seem to have been buried there long after

These people are known. You can read about them in the Book of Mormon. This ancient scripture even describes why and how they built the mounds. It was the Nephite people preparing for a defensive war from the invading Lamanites in the South. Read Alma 49 and the chapters after this about of their wars. They also built strategic towers on them. The Book of Mormon is a historical record of the people that lived in these states. The Nephites believed in and worshiped Jesus Christ and the Lamanites were in opposition to their ways, culture and religion. This is a true account of these people and the Book of Mormon is a beautiful record of the history and faith of these people. If you choose to read this book it will bring peace and light into your life.

@@Ghoosier The Nephilim /ˈnɛfɪˌlɪm/ (Hebrew: נְפִילִים, nefilim) were the offspring of the "sons of God" and the "daughters of men" before the Deluge, according to Genesis 6:1-4. A similar or identical biblical Hebrew term, read as "Nephilim" by some scholars, or as the word "fallen" by others, appears in Ezekiel 32:27. Their corps is still there when they dug, found it.
